Does that cover work on the new batteries we have to choose from?Tom wrote: Sun Jul 13, 2025 10:16 am Ah, right, I don't have a factory alarm so don't have that. These cars came with a battery cover too if you don't already have one.

Re: My new 944 ... and it's issues
On the deflector, I always wondered if that kept anyone from messing with the battery cable...maybe disable an alarm???

Re: 044 and AEM Fuel Pumps Screaming
My pump was screaming last year. I tried some super premium gas and that didn't help, and I changed to a new pump and the new one started screaming too. The issue turned out to be a bad FPR which resulted in elevated pressure that I guess the pump didn't like.
That's what I was wondering about ...

Re: 044 and AEM Fuel Pumps Screaming
Strange. I've had three 951's (over the past 30 years) here in Texas where 100+ days are normal and I've never had these fuel pump problems. Just wondering if it could be anything else. On a sadder note, I am once again Porsche-less, with money burning a hole in my pocket.

Oh boy, AOS O-Ring! Take half the engine apart to change a 50 cent O-ring. Been there.

Re: My new 944 ... and it's issues
Just finished replacing both battery cables with some really nice quality cables off of eBay. Generic cables at the right length with proper ends. Two cables for the positive, one battery to starter and other starter to alternator. The negative didn't worry me so much except that the exposed copper ...

Re: Rough Idle issue
Knock on wood that's the only leak.
Intake gaskets are one time use, and I've gotten away with reusing them if they still look good. :shifty:
Ditto. As often as you remove the intake to get to (or make easy to get to) other things, I'd go through intake gaskets like the proverbial waste ...

Re: Alternate Alternator Options/Sources
Just found out that my single wire alternator was the source of a significant battery drain. Self exciting single wire alternators are known for this, I guess...I recently swapped back to an OEM unit and my problem completely disappeared. Just for info, in case anyone else is looking at going to a ...

Re: So tired of the power steering system
What about using an electric pump, which gets rid of the belt-driven pump? Retain hydraulic power steering while reducing a load on the motor.
that power to run that pump has to come from somewhere. Either directly from the engine via belt or go from the engine to the alternator to the pump ...

Re: So tired of the power steering system
That looks very tempting. One of the first things I had to do (on this 951) was replace the steering rack which leaked horribly. Three years later and after the warranty has run out, it has started to weep on the passenger side. Having one less fluid to leak sounds great. Replacing the rack one last ...
