Re: Noob Questions for Storage

Speaking of mice...here's my solution! I place rat glue traps around the perimeter of the inside of the garage. There are 5 of them total, placed in locations where they are under something so I don't accidentally step on them. I have a calendar reminder to check them every 2 weeks year-round.

As ...

Re: Noob Questions for Storage

One other bit of advice for winter storage: go to Lowes or Home Depoit and buy the 2'x2' padded gym squares found in their flooring or carpeting section (sold in packs of 6 or 8 I believe). Put one under each wheel/tire, and they are just as good as the Flatstoppers than you can spend a couple ...

Re: Boxster GTS 4.0 Oil Change

The headlight leveling arm needing to be disengaged only applies to the turbo-4 cars. On the 4-liter, the oil change is totally straightforward once you drop the undertray. I've done the job twice now, and will do it a third time at the end of the season. I used the Hazet 2169 Filter Wrench, ordered ...

Re: UPDATE: air filters replaced, tips and photos within

I did this job today. Watched all the videos, but here are my notes that I jotted down during and after the process:

Get correct gasket grease for next time (Porsche Kluber Syntheso Glep Grease - P/N 000-043-305-01); I used wheel bearing grease first time. Clean reusable parts off well, and apply ...

Re: Blackmill Wind Buffeting/Defuser

I started with the AWE deflectors, and ended up with the Blackmill deflectors. Better fit than the AWEs, and you can simply peel off that Blackmill sticker on the side. I was not impressed with the fit and look of the AWE deflector on my car, but others reported much better results on their cars ...

Re: 718 ABS License Plate Mounts

I have a set of these installed on my '22 CGTS and also my '18 VW GTI. The GTI was rear-ended while my daughter was stopped at a traffic light less than a mile from home. The sun was coming up directly ahead, and the driver that hit my daughter didn't even see the traffic light or the car before ...

Re: Brake flush, air filters and coolant.

Here are my notes for the brake fluid flush job. I've done it now twice on my '22 CGTS with 10K miles:

Use pliers to pull out yellow plastic filter in reservoir top
Suck out old fluid from reservoir using turkey baster or Mityvac
11mm for brake bleeder nipples
Torque bleeder nipples to 11 ...

Re: Porsche and the mysterious oil check dance

Hi all, here's my feedback on this topic based on the one oil change I've done so far on my '22 CGTS:

Fill with 8 quarts to start; I think I added another 0.25 quart to get to middle level. With DFI engines, I try to keep the oil at the middle of the measured range.

To get a reading after the oil ...

Re: 718 Sports Chrono Bezel Progress

I'm interested in this too! In my CGTS, the stock bezel is a shiny aluminum finish, and you can see it's reflection in the windshield during the day. While it doesn't bother me most of the time, I still notice it more than I should.

Re: 718 Solid ABS License Plate Mounts

There are dimples in the stock bumper. Installing Tom's license plate mount was the first mod I did to my car - even before signing the paperwork and taking full ownership of it! My Sales Advisor was kind enough to put a big piece of blue painters tape over the spot when the car came off the carrier ...
