Re: What's Inside: Combination Switch (Turn Signals/Wipers)

Does anyone make a rebuild kit for the turn signal switch assembly?

I'm currently running a prototype of the 3D printed repair part I designed to address the broken wings. I still have a couple of things to iron out though. I vaguely remember posting a short video of it in operation on my ...

They've been sitting on a shelf all boxed up since Fall of 2022. I'll be delighted to move these along.

Re: Need Help With Climate Control

Some time ago I took each of my HVAC flapper door motors apart. I hadn't been getting full heat with the temp knob cranked all the way. However, I would get full heat with the defrost switch.

Turns out, the traces on the big green circuit board for the blend door motor had a crack. The motor ...

Re: Handbrake issue

Do you mean the button on the handle stays pressed in? I recall freeing mine with generous application of spray lube into the gap around the button and then spastically mashing the button until it behaved.

If you mean applying the hand brake doesn't successfully hold the car, that's probably the ...

Re: Identifying crush washers

I've had good luck re-annealing copper crush washers. Hang them on a steel wire and heat with a propane torch until glowing red. I let them air cool. Others quench in water.

Either way, once they are cool, I lay a sheet of 220 grit sandpaper on a very flat surface (MDF or glass) and hand sand each ...

Re: camshaft sprocket / gear removal

My kit came from Larts Parts on eBay if I remember correctly. I suspect the various kits work really similarly though. The LR instructions ought to point you in the right direction.

I did mine in a hotel parking lot some 1000 miles from home with only the road trip tools I had packed. (Basic ...

Re: camshaft sprocket / gear removal

When I did mine with a similar kit years ago, I made the splice in the right front wheel well. Access is straight forward once you remove the fender liner (and the wheel, of course). You can sit on the ground and not kill your back.

Re: Anyone running an Ebay radiator?

Six or seven years ago I replaced my original radiator with the "OEM" version sold by Pelican (vs the "Genuine Porsche" version). About half the cost. No complaints. No problems.

In fact, the location that would have shown the logo and Porsche part number on the "genuine Porsche" radiator was ...

Re: Replacing Boot on Steering Rack

Maybe not the "best" way, but since I have this in the near future myself, this is what I plan to do...

Jack and support car
Remove front wheel
Break tie rod end locknut free
Remove tie rod end from steering knuckle
Remove tie rod end, counting turns
Slip old boot off
Slide new boot on
Reinstall ...
