Hi Chris, I bought mine with a whale tail as well and was looking for a different look. I was debating between the duck tail or no tail clean look. In the end, I went with the classic, clean look because it's timeless and my friend had a deck lid. I bought the plastic grill on ebay.

...I prefer the classic lines of my 911 Targa, without the tail. Someone way down the line who will own this Targa will have the option of adding the front and rear spoilers. I have an 87 Targa. I bought it with a Carrera tail and it had the 80s vibe which some people thought was cool. I did a respray several years ago and decided to go flat back. Hi I’ve owned my 1987 Targa for over 10 years. It’s a nice driver with 180K on the clock, 20K of them all mine. My most recent big project was a full suspension refresh, rear wheel bearings, oil lines and other “while your in there” things.
