Long story short I removed the front covers and visually inspected the belts and pulleys. Belts were good, pulleys were good and nothing was loose. Water pump looked good as well. I ran the ...

Re: New 3D-Printed 944 Timing Belt Tensioner Tool
Sorry to hear of you engine noise. Never fun. Not sure what to tell you about the tool though. When made and used as designed, the tool gets you quite close to the factory spec. If you ended up with a belt that's so tight it took out the water pump, something obviously went wrong somewhere -- just ...

Re: New 3D-Printed 944 Timing Belt Tensioner Tool
I think I maybe the first one who has had a bad experience with this tool.
I made a post in this thread on June 28th, 2023 located at this link: https://www.carpokes.com/viewtopic.php?p=20901#p20904 .
I had mentioned a concern of the belt feeling way too tight. The belt had very little deflection ...

Re: Has anyone attempted to create a 3D printed rear main seal installation tool?
Let us know how it goes. .STL's can be hit or miss, so if this one has any issues, I'm still happy to make one here. :)
Will do! I read the one and only comment on the website for that .STL and the user said he had some difficulty with his first printed tool. Seems like this particular tool ...

I believe that there is one designed by someone over on RL. Let me see if I can find you the link to Thingiverse (?); the design file was made publicly accessible.

Re: Has anyone attempted to create a 3D printed rear main seal installation tool?
That's a good idea! I have not seen a model for it, but I do have the factory tool (after a DIY PVC tool resulted in a leak), so could work off that to model one. I'll put it on the list, but it will be a while I'm sure -- so maybe not a solution to your immediate issue. :(
No worries! Reason I ...

Has anyone attempted to create a 3D printed rear main seal installation tool?
Just thought of this the other day and figured it maybe a handy tool to have. I borrowed an SST tool from my workplace that got the seal started but the inner diameter wouldn't clear the end of the crankshaft like a proper rear main seal SST for our engines would.
Has anyone attempted to create an ...

Re: New 3D-Printed 944 Timing Belt Tensioner Tool
Quick question regarding the tensioning tool!
I successfully used it this past weekend but had a question of the "feel" of the belt. After using the tool and setting the timing belt tension to the "N" spec since my belt is new, I went to do the good old twist/ deflection test just to confirm. I ...
