Alternator vent hose
Hi Everyone,
I had to share this tip - For a few years I'd been struggling with a generic, POS 60mm corrugated aluminum supply hose for the alternator air duct in my 944S. I finally had enough of the 1 hour super frustrating exercise to get it on witout collapsing and folding over on me as I worked ...

Re: Another "what is this..."
This is/was for early emissions testing, specifically for inserting a probe to measure the carbon monoxide content in the exhaust, to aid in setting the idle mixture. In a few models which have non adjustable idle mixture, like the 944 S, S2, 968, and possibly some of the turbos, its only purpose ...

Youtube creator back on line
Hi Everyone,
Russ Fournier/European Autocraft Studios is a good guy and is back creating Youtube content, much of it is Porsche-based. Currently he's doing some re-sealing and cylinder head work on a 911 engine, not sure what vintage (air cooled heads).
Check out his channel, and subscribe if you ...

Re: Weird ground issue
Since you get better performance when you improvise a ground near the starter, I think you're on the right track to look at the starter to bellhousing interface. Make sure it's all clean

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Maxed
Working correctly. This gauge also functions as an indirect oil temperature indicator; expect about 2-2.5 bar at idle with fully warmed-up oil and in-spec bearing clearances.

Re: Transmission Fluid Recommendations?
Tom, I don't know for sure if it was swepco, it was what came in Gretchen when I bought her. It was thick, stinky, and probably 20 years old or more.
I flushed it out with mt90 then re-filled it again with mt90 after a few hundred miles. I noticed the whine from my excessive ring/pinion backlash ...

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Maxed
I'd say the gauge staying pegged like that after power is removed is mechanical - the needle is sticking from being slammed up into the stop. See if it will drop down by gently thumping the dash above the cluster.

Re: Transmission Fluid Recommendations?
I use Red Line MT 90 as well, but I too have an open diff. I believe it will work with an lsd, maybe you'll need an additive. Definitely check, I'm not 100%. Anyhow, I love how the shift feel is, even when cold it still shifts great. It doesn't smell bad, and it's even a nice color! It transformed ...
