Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
They're actually Bosch OEM sensors i picked up on pelican (Part#: 944-606-115-00-M14). Definitely OEM with the part number written on the sensors. The backup sensor i bought off of Ebay which was supposed to be a Bosch OEM but most definitely was not, no part number markings and it was missing the ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Thankyou blueline! That's so much easier to post i don't know how i missed this before!
Heres a pic of my DME harness and the Aftermarket connectors i use for the Sensors. (I know it's not the OEM ones but i couldn't be bothered to buy the BOSCHE connectors when i did this 6 months ago.).

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Today i regapped everything as it should be, 0.8mm to the Starter ring gear on the Speed sensor. Checked with an O-scope for good voltage before putting the fuel pump fuse back in and nothing. Same thing only running on 2 cylinders then it died quickly. Then i remember you posting this...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Hey all, now that the warmer weather is coming around in NY. I've had some time to get back to the project. From last time, i haven't been able to get her to intermittently run on 4 cylinders like before (not sure why the videos were taken down from Imgur).

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Meh, maybe not on my theory. I was thinking the diagnostic sensor pins might be interfering with the signals in a way that killed every other pulse, but I'm not really seeing how that could happen. I'm wondering instead if the dme was losing track of the flywheel location and had to wait for the ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Great work finally getting to the cause of your bizarre issue. That one will go into my mental data base. I have to go back and look at my notes, but I might have a theory why sensors on the fringe of their range might fire every other time. In the meantime, here's an old video I did on the sensor ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
So i got her to run on all 4 cylinders and... the Culprit was the speed and reference sensor gap the whole time! I never re-gapped it after the rebuild since i had left the bracket in the same position but it must have moved somewhere along the way. Yesterday, I did testing after a long day of work ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
So today I spliced in a seperate coil wire (green) and removed the pins on any connectors with the existing wire. Sent it to both the tach and the coil and.. same thing. I took it out of the back of the tach with it now just running straight to the coil and same thing as well. I did however find ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
Im back with another round of testing. Just got the replacement DME in the mail and same thing, only started with the temp sensor unplugged. Once unplugged it immediately started though. I shut it down, grabbed my oscilloscope to see if the pulses were in line now. Threw it on started her up and ...

Re: Early 944 Temp Sensor Issues
I haven't gotten her on the road yet, I don't think shes been driven in 10+ years. I've taken her up and down the driveway though. I'm worried about stalling the car in traffic if i got it road legal since she doesn't like to start unless i pull the temp sensor first. As well as the low compression ...
