I realize there are many out there who would never want or need to put anything on the roof of their car, but not so for me. While we have other vehicles including a large SUV, I still prefer a long weekend family road trip in the 911. Granted, my kids are still small enough to fit in the back seat without discomfort. For those spec-ing a new 992, I understand that roof rack prep is a $60 option. IMHO, it’s better to have it and not need it than need it an not have it.
Would love to see other peoples roof racks and how they use them.
Is the 911 a great weekend family road trip vehicle? YES!!!

Very cool. Ferdinand would be pleased. I can honestly say I've never seen a roof rack on a modern 911. What holds it on? Can you take it off, no worse for wear, when not needed? My wife had a rack on her New Beetle for years and it kind of clamped into the rain gutter after applying a clear protective film, which I'd be afraid to do on a new Porsche....

All 991 hardtops were equipped with connection points for roof racks which are concealed by the weather stripping when not in use. For 992 hard tops, you have to specify it as an option but it's only $60.Tom wrote: Fri Sep 16, 2022 11:10 am Very cool. Ferdinand would be pleased. At the 6:25 mark on this video it shows where these connection points are.

Great video. I had no idea. What year is your car? I studied the configurator for hours and don't remember seeing that on my '21.
That is a WAY nicer mounting system than VW used on the Beetle. I'll tell you now that the VW version left marks behind on the paint, whereas that system looks designed to eliminate that problem. Good 'ol Porsche engineering.
