Hey y'all,

Got hooked on Porsches in 1963 when a friend of my Dad showed up in a new 356B Super 90coupe. Bought my first Porsche in 1966 (1957 356A coupe) that could only go in reverse. Learned how to rebuild differential and ring and pinion gears. After that it has been downhill on into terminal Porsche-itis.

they are addictive for sure. That's a great history. One of my friends was the son of the guy that owned Moran tug boats and he had a Porsche. When I saw that thing, I was in love. My Dad drove a '78 Ford Fiesta (sport edition!) and that was what I inherited when I was 16. We didn't have a lot of money, but it was manual and fun. Getting my own Porsche was always a dream - and a dream come true.

The 1957 A coupe was sitting in a field behind the guy's house. I paid $375 for it with the broken differential. Quite a learning experience for me. The 1966 911 cost me $500 and it did not run. I brought it home on a trailer. My wife was not pleased that I bought a non running car. I got it running with $22 of ignition parts.

These prices seem rediculous now, but it was before most people even knew about Porsches.

Been obsessed with cars since I was a kid. Had a Car and Driver subscription when I was 11 and pulled out the Porsche 911 centerfold to put it on my wall. The first car I bought for myself was an 88 Honda Prelude Si 4WS. I owned a lot of Honda's in the 90s. I test drive in a 2000 BMW 323i and was hooked but wasn't able to afford one until a few years later and that began my love affair with BMW for the next 15 years culminating in a European Delivery of an F80 M3 in July 2015. Great car but never loved it as much my earlier BMW or as much as I thought I should love my first //M car. I drooled over a lot of E46 M3 back in the day but with a young family couldn't afford one.

A few years later Kids are in HS. I have a little more money and I am thinking it's time for that Porsche I have wanted since I was 11. I am thinking an early 991.1 may be just in range. I am at Park Place Porsche in Dallas to test drive a few they have on the used lot and this new 2018 718 Base in Chalk catches my eye. I think I should test drive one of those and just like that my passion shifted from the 911 to the 718. Something about the feel of the mid-engine platform and I loved that color. I drove it home and put 38k miles on it over the next couple of years.

Now it's early 2020 and I am planning my next European Delivery with Porsche Plano for a GT4. I let the Base go then COVID blows everything up. While working from home I decided to keep saving up for the GT4 and found a Topaz Blue E46 M3 with 84k miles that worked on and enjoyed for 18 months. That brings me to last month where after raising the white flag on a GT4 for now I sold the E46 and picked up a 2018 718 Cayman GTS with only 15k miles I am using as my daily now that I am commuting to the office again. I really love the 718, perfect size, weight, and power for a fun daily.

BTW that is my brother's 944 behind my M3 on The Tail of the Dragon this past May. I can't wait to take the 718 to the Smokey Mountains

I'm a retired civil engineer, so I've got some time to enjoy my Porsche hobby and more importantly, I've got a wife who supports my expensive habit.

My current cars are 88' 928 S4 (5speed) for sale on PCA.org and Cargurus, 1989 Targa Carrerra and a 2015 GT3. I only have the space for two Porsches and really can't afford to maintain all three with two other daily drivers. Previous cars were 1976 912-E, 1995 968 coupe, 2006 911 C4S Cab and 2013 Carrara S Cab.

Looking forward to sharing insights and learning from the forum.

Welcome aboard! Great looking car. Feel free to post your 928 for sale here too. We need more 928 traffic, and I'm always keeping my eyes open for one (though you are probably too far away for me....).

Tim in Tennessee. Porsches nowadays but an old Corvette guy in the past. Still racing a bit in WRL and ChampCar with my friends out of Huntsville, but mostly enjoying track days in the GT4. Lots of good tracks in these parts and more on the way!

Became obsessed with Porsches while attending the 24 hours at Daytona in 1980. Plus two of my colleagues at my new job out of college owned multiple Porsches.
