I've seen threads on other sites about replacing the spoiler lip, and I think I'm at that point. I hit a pothole driving into a parking lot and experienced a terrible crunch that made me wince it was so severe. The lip is scarred and I'm amazed it didn't tear off. Suncoast has it for $229 and listed as "replacement bumper trim." I'm assuming is is what I need. Of course it will have to be painted, which is no big deal since it is black. Does anyone have experience doing this, and is there a better source for the part? Any tips on doing the work?

Isn’t the lip supposed to be unpainted black? At least, that’s how they come on new cars. I hope I’m talking about the same part

Could be, I was just going by the description on Suncoast 's site. It would make it easier. I'm going by my dealer Wednesday so I'll try to get the correct part number and see if they will match the Suncoast price.

I smell a new Carpokes DIY.
The equivalent part on my 991 and now 992 is black plastic -- no paint. I imagine if you look closely, you can tell if it's painted or not....
You might check Porsche of Marin on the price. They seem to be selling parts cheaper than most these days.

Back when I had my 981 GTS I bought the GT4 rear diffuser and it was flat black plastic which I left as is. Down low like that the color isn't really noticeable and since this seems to be a regular replacement part I don't see much sense in spending much to paint it.
Thanks for the heads-up on Marin, I'll check their price.

I have bought parts from Delaware, Annapolis and Gaudin recently. I check them all including shipping to me here in FL and no one beat them. However, shipping costs seem to be the biggest variable!

My 2003 Turbo had all the aero painted but I agree with all the other people that out of the factory it's unpainted black. I had to replace my front lip and after getting some quotes for the OEM part decided to go with something off Amazon. The pros: Cheap and looks pretty good unpainted. The Cons: The slots were not cut out and I had to use a dremmel tool to do that. Like a lot of people say if you google it on youtube, it's very very tight. Took some stretching, hammering with a mallet and then cutting with the dremmel tool to finally get it fully on but it was pretty easy other than that!
Here is the part I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RT ... UTF8&psc=1

I recently picked up a not installed used front lip. Still in factory packaging. It looked exactly like the one on the car.
