Is it your daily driver? Are you paranoid about where you park it - not from a theft perspective but from parking knocks etc

Yes and yes. But 1 year in and 10,000 miles I am happy to say I have had zero mishaps.

Yes and yes

But I park ‘away’ carefully but there’s always some clown who’ll park close but so far no dings after 4yrs 24k miles.

My Boxster T is my daily as have been all twelve Porsches I have owned since 1985. I do try to be careful when parking but you often get that person who parks next to you wherever you park. I don’t remember ever getting my door dinged in a parking lot though.

I have another car and generally take it if I think that a parking lot that I will use will be busy. It isn't so much door dings, rather I like to open the door to the second stop to get in and out and you can't do it with someone beside you. I will never take it if I will be street parking at night. Too many idiots that think it's fun to deface an expensive car.

In Texas in winter my daily is an Audi S5. The rest of the months my 718 is the default daily because I fear parking my Elise and 4C anywhere near other cars. I do park the 718 away from other cars, but I am not paranoid about it.

Yes indeed… My Cayman S is my daily driver and canyon car, and travel buddy… My wife is also a gearhead and currently, our other car is a BMW M340i. We try to park them out of harm’s way. However, despite having their noses and mirrors, etc. wrapped, much more light damage occurs up in the canyons on the weekends with all the little stones, sand and other encounters. It’s a constant struggle with detailing, but all the time spent in surface care is actually a delightful meditation…

My BGTS is my daily driver until it gets too cold for the tires to behave. Here in central Texas, getting that cold doesn't happen very often, but when it does I have a Mazda CX-5 for those occasions. I generally try to park away from other cars but I don't make too much of a fuss about it - I bought it to drive, not for it to be a pristine garage queen. I have been driving Porsches for ~10 years and I have treated all of them the same way. Maybe I've just been lucky, but so far I have not had so much as a door ding in any of them.
