Location: Arlington TX.

Occupation: Retired USAF and airline pilot, AMSOIL Dealer for 25 years.

Daily driver: 2018 Toyota Tundra (outstanding truck).

Fun car: “Luna,” a 2014 Base Cayman 6MT, Carrara White on Black Std interior, 83k miles.

Previous: Had string of nine BMWs (last was an E39 M5) before having to scratch Porsche itch. First was an ‘09 997 Base Carrera 6MT, perfect first Porsche for me (and one I shouldn’t have sold frankly). Next up was a ‘17 Macan S CPO for six months; decided to sell after my wife passed unexpectedly.

Welcome to Carpokes Vic!

Longtime and continuing Amsoil customer. Their products are among the best you can get anywhere in the world. Awesome engineering and development too. I used 15w-50 Dominator Racing oil in my track-only '09 Z06 for 10+ years before I sold it. It had a fine Golen-built race motor and much more. Nothing was stock on the car. Used Amsoil for all diff and trans fluid. Also, Amsoil filters and more. Same for my 2011 GMC 6.2 V8 4x4. (Lots of miles but I love that truck!)

Enjoy your Cayman!

Hey everyone,

Re-posting here based on @blueline ’s suggestion. I heard about Carpokes on another forum and thought I’d check it out. I’m a first time Porsche owner as of a few weeks ago and am loving it. I secured an allocation for a 2023 Cayman GTS 4.0, which was delivered in November 2022. Been a few weeks now, and I’m so happy with the car. The performance is exceptional and I think it’s great that I can bomb around town without feeling like this needs to be a museum piece. Living in CT so looking forward to meeting other folks here, especially those nearby.

Greetings from a late in life new Porsche lover! I have searched long and expensively for cars that I resonate with from fun, fit, feel perspectives. In this journey I have owned around 40 cars with brands ranging from English, to German, to US, to Japanese. About a year ago, my son finally said, “Dad, you need to quit screwing around and buy a Porsche.” So I began a search for a starter car and found a low mileage, Arctic Silver 987.2 Boxster in really good condition for a little under $40k. That led to my wife saying “you keep trying to love your MDX, but why don’t you try a Cayenne or a Panamera?” So during my recovery from a surprise triple bypass (better than new now), I found a dark blue over black interior 2018 Cayenne GTS with most available options except the driver assistance features. It was around $50k so it kept me under my historical self-imposed $100k combined car value limit, with a little room for some upgrades … Just put larger size Yoko’s on the Cayenne, along with new Cocomats. Next up for the Boxster is new all season tires (current availability stinks), adding the sport plus module, refinishing the wheels to titanium and having it wrapped in satin gray or dark blue. In the meantime, I recently drove a 2013 911 S in mint condition and was blown away … not sure what the future holds, but if stay healthy a 991 911 is probably in the offing! In closing, to say I am happy in my 66th year with these car choices is an understatement… my only regret is it took me so long to get here, and I look forward to owning more Porsches as time and circumstances allow!

Welcome to Carpokes!

It also took me nearly a lifetime to make the transition to the Porsche Promised Land of excellent vehicles and am I ever glad to have made it! We so appreciate the quality and engineering of our Porsches.

Post a few pics when you can as we all like seeing what others are owning and driving. Scout around Carpokes and you'll find thousands of member pics and a ton of ideas and goodies and sound advice.

Welcome aboard Vic, and thank you for your service! Not sure when your wife passed, but so sorry for your loss.

Looks like maybe you were trying to post a picture? Here is a quick guide on how to do that:

Welcome aboard! Car looks beautiful. It almost looks like Sapphire Blue to me, but assume if Gentian?

Welcome aboard!! The great thing about self-imposed limits is that they can be self-removed. :) I remember when a good friend of mine first bought a car that cost over $100k and it just blew my mind. Like you, I grew up in an era when $100k would buy you a Lamborghini Miura AND a couple 12-cylinder Ferraris, with money left over to by a daily driver. Of course, gas was 30 to 35 cents a gallon back then too, so it's all relative I guess... In any event, find a nice 991, you won't regret it. :)

Hello everyone I am a new member. Recently retired physician and just moved to a more rural area about 2 hours from Nashville. I have a 2000 boxster with 128k miles. It runs well except has recently developed a sound like something is caught on the undercarriage and is dragging. It is not related to any drivetrain function. It is only present when the car is moving and doesn’t change if i let it coast with the engine idling. Unfortunately it is over an hour to the nearest reliable mechanic. I looked underneath and nothing is obvious. Thought maybe wheel bearing or brake/rotor issues. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thanks
