Garage Thread

Love all the garages!
Keep them coming, I'll need ideas for a new one in a few years. Mine is overcrowded and messy at the moment.

What does everyone think is a must have in their garage?

My first world problem is I have too many cars for a small garage. What I need is enough space for 8-10 cars min. and I need/want to be able to park two cars front to rear in each bay so has to be 40’+ deep. I have two two car regular garages, but you can’t double up on them. I suppose I could do lifts but don’t want the headache. If I have to take it off a rack I won’t and I know they will sit and not get driven. Like I said “first world” problems. Here is rendering I did for fun. One day!

We built a 560 square foot, four car garage, completely filling the space available when we downsized back in 2003. It’s 30 feet deep and 18.5 feet wide. While it does hold four cars in two tandem pairs, the length of the cars is a consideration.
We’re down to two cars these days, which means the deep slots have accumulated “stuff,” but the design has served us well.
I will say that when we had four cars, no matter how they were parked, the car you wanted to drive was ALWAYS in one of the deep slots.

Garage looks very nice. Funny about the car you want to drive is always in the back. I guess that's better than it being on the top of the lift. I love your Cayman btw. As for depth, 30 feet is tight as you mentioned. I figure if I am building it, I might as well make it fit two cars easily, so I was thinking 20' each for total of 40'. Maybe that's too much. 18' is considered the min. on for a parking space on a commercial job.

Can't wait to get the clutter out of the house that I've been collecting to hang on the garage walls...

Built this two years ago. Hoping to complete the electric and get the walls finished this year. Original plan included a four post lift (mostly for storage purposes), but not feeling the need lately. Can't wait to get the clutter out of the house that I've been collecting to hang on the garage walls...

Very nice! Lots of ceiling room should you decide to put in the lift. The roadster is so cool and I love the gas pump too! Of course, the Cayman is sweet - can't leave out the Porsche!

The roadster isn’t bad for a 100 year old car

To get a lift in there on a budget, I planned 10’ walls with the scissor trusses to get as much height as possible (along with the door rails following the truss) but keeping the same pitch as my house…may still happen. I can’t believe how fast time is flying by anymore…

LOVE that garage. Doing a free-standing Texaco gas station style garage was my original plan, but we fell in love with this house/property, and a free-standing garage wasn't in the cards from a zoning perspective. Can't wait to see yours as you progress. I'm thinking vintage gas pumps out front.
