Thanks,

Did you want the black or raw ones? I'll order them this week.

Since they are so thin, I'm going to try mailing them in a regular envelope to avoid customs forms and save about $40 in international shipping. If that doesn't work, I'm sure it will be close to US$40 to ship to most of Europe....
I'm easy with either. If you need numbers for raw ones I'm good with that and will paint or wrap them and likewise if you'd rather more numbers for the black I'll take them

Since I am trying a new online place, I just ordered a batch of raw ones to start -- just to make sure they do a good job before placing the full order. They should be in the mail and on their way to me in about a week. :) If they look good, I'll order the black ones asap. Thanks for your patience. :)

Please post in this thread if you would like a set, and I'll keep a running list. As long as we get to 20 sets total (and at least 10 sets of each), I'll get them ordered and sort out payments once ready (via PayPal only). Since this is really a community service courtesy of Carpokes, my only request is that these go to registered Carpokeans only. Registration is fast and free, so in the spirit these are offered, please only sign up for yourself (i.e., if your Uncle Lou wants a set, get him over here so he can put his own name on the list.)

Shipping outside the US is possible, but costs more than the parts themselves -- even to Canada. You've been warned....
Please put me down for a set of black anodized! Thanks Tom!

The raw ones are in route to me now. Assuming they are good, I'll get the black ones ordered this week. :)

The raw ones are here, the raw ones are here! They look good to me, but I'll ship some of these out asap for $35 a set (per post #128) and make sure people are happy with the fit, and then order the black ones in bulk. Since I only have I think 20 sets of these, to start I'll only send them off to people who are already on the list.

Please email me at admin@carpokes.com to make payment and shipping arrangements. Please include:

1. Your Carpokes User Name
2. Your PayPal address
3. Your shipping address if outside the US
4. How many sets you signed up for.

Well I sent out 5 sets of raw/unfinished covers today (everyone who has paid as of Monday night). Please let me know when you get yours. I put them in regular legal envelopes, taped to cardboard, and had the post office confirm weight and postage. When you get yours, please confirm here or by email. Assuming shipping by envelope works, it will make a huge difference to those outside the US -- as it would otherwise cost more than the covers cost just to ship. I sent one set to the UK, so particularly interested to hear when that one arrives. Assuming folks are happy with the fit, I'll order the black ones this week and should have them in another week or so.

I did notice that at least half of the raw aluminum covers were a bit scratch. My local machine shop guy warned me about this, since the big sheets of aluminum they put in the laser cutter almost always have surface scratches, so unless you have them 'grained' or otherwise finished, you get what you get. So, at first I was picking out the best unscratched ones to send (to Bob and 808c2s) but it finally dawned on my to give them a light bead blast. It's aluminum, so easy to sand or do whatever you want for finishing, but thought I'd show a before and after of the bead blasting. Creates a nice dull finish that's perfect for paint, powder coating, or film... I purposely picked out the one with the worst surface scratches to show the improvement. The anodized black ones will be nicely finished, so shouldn't be an issue.

That is quite the difference after the bead blast, Tom, but as you said, aluminum is easy to sand, if needed at all. A few light coats of paint should fill in any of the light scratches so either way they should be fine for all. It will be interesting to see how the shipping goes since as I told Tom there is a post office local to me that feels and bends envelopes to try and figure out if something other than paper is inside, thus the reason I do not go there anymore! And for at least the 100th time, thank you, Tom!
