I am planning a 4 week vacation overseas this summer, and I am wondering how to protect the Taycan batteries?
Do I hook the 12v battery up to a Battery Tender?
Do I leave the Taycan plugged into the MCC for the entire time?
I would be very interested in your advice.

Just consider a new Taycan can easily take longer than 4 weeks to get from factory to US port with no battery problems.
A 12v battery tender wouldn’t hurt but not necessary
We were in Europe for 6 weeks last summer and my wife’s hybrid just sat in the driveway unconnected the whole time with no problems

I'd definitely go with what Porsche says. Your dealer should have the answer - service dept, anyway.
I don't want to spread bad info because I definitely don't know for sure, but some pretty reliable recent articles (Autoweek maybe or a Hagerty piece?) addressing EV batteries in a general sense stated that owners are degrading their batteries by keeping them topped off/fully charged all the time due to "range anxiety" that is effecting many. This piece stressed that current gen auto batteries are best stored between 20% to 80%. (Not very practical imo - I'd want to be topped off!) However, it stated that battery lives and eventually range will be shortened by constantly keeping them at 100%. Apparently, many owners will go for a short drive, using 10% or so, come home and get the car right back on the charger so they'll be at 100% for the next drive.

The Taycan has very little phantom drain. When I had my Taycan, I left it for 6 weeks a few times without any issues. In the beginning I used a battery tender that was compatible with lithium ion batteries for the 12v battery, and I left the car hooked up to the Porsche charger for the big battery with a profile set to keep it at 85% state of charge. After I got comfortable that the big battery only dropped 1 or 2% per month, I just used the tender if the car was going to sit for longer than a few days. FYI, I use tenders on all of my Porsches. My Boxster still has the original battery (10+ years).

Car shipped are put into transport mode, they use less power as most of the systems are shutdown. Sitting at home is a bit different. Best to use a trickle charger, just to be safe. I have been fortunate to not encounter any issues with extended trips (3+ months) and just kept the level 2 car charger plugged in and car locked. For shorter trips (3 - 4 weeks) , I just lock the car and try not to check the car too much with the app (which is what tends to wake the car up and consumes battery).

I have two Trickle Chargers - one on the 2cv and one on the 911. I suppose I’ll get a third for the Taycan - or is there another brand I should consider?
