What’s the current state for quality replacement battery cables for our cars? I used to have an IceShark kit and it was great, if a little too beefy which made it tough to navigate some of the twists and turns in the engine bay.

Thanks!

I picked up a set from "dcmachinist" on ebay some time back, they seem to be the most direct equivalent to the old Iceshark kits. They're super nice! That said, his store seems to be down.

I did some poking around and this seems to be the latest info. It's been a couple months, maybe worth messaging him directly and seeing where he's at? Wonder if we could get him over here :)

I have seen something from him more recently, maybe in the last 3 weeks? Saying he is nearly done with personals matters- divorce, etc, and is looking to start making the cables again soon.

Yeah I saw he was starting to make stuff again. I intend to grab a set.
You cannot make what he does for the price he sells it for. Installed a set before on a car, good stuff.

If you have the time and some basic tools, it's not really that hard to make a decent set of your own. I have one that I made for my '86 944 NA, huge upgrade to the degraded original one. I also made an Iceshark-style supplemental cable.

He was on Ebay. If you have him on FB you can contact him but he's still down at the moment afaik.

Looks like DCmachinist has stopped selling cables.

Does anyone know where to source the 2 wire connector for the alternator?

Thanks,
Dmitry

You mean the one up by the brake booster? The ones that attach to the alternator itself are standard battery cable lugs if I remember correctly. Summit Racing has near endless options for those. Trying to remember, but didn't the original IceShark cables require you to reuse your existing 2-pin connector up by the brake booster?

p.s., welcome to Carpokes. I just realized who you are -- glad you found us! --Tom (M'Guinn)
