What do you collect besides cars?

I've been collecting fountain pens for a few years. Nothing really high-end - think Diplomat Aero, Sailor 1911S, Karas. A few common vintage pens plus more than a few inexpensive Chinese. All intended as daily writers, no drawer queens.

The one I reach for the most is a $20 knock-off of a Kaweco brass Sport. Would hate to lose that one, so I bought another as a backup. A Lamy studio is #2 on the favorite list.

Real fountain pens! I did not realize that so many were still being made. Been a long time since I've used with one but I know they write wonderfully well. Can't stand ballpoints but I'm good with my Uni Ball Vision Elite micro 0.5 rollers.

Yes, real fountain pens! They never went away, but were relegated to status symbols for decades after ballpoints became almost ubiquitous. Now, many options for excellent daily writers that are less than the cost of a decent lunch.

A Lamy Safari was my gateway pen 20 years ago. Still use it regularly.

And once you enter the fountain pen world, you discover there's an adjacent universe called "Ink"...

Speaking of carts.....Bondurant used to have a shifter cart school at Firebird in Phoenix. 10 Years ago, my son and I attended as he was going through the teen driers course and they had the shifter course in evenings due to heat and short duration of the school....loads of fun as he smoked me all the time out of the corners. A friend had a laydown cart I got to experience at the full Willow Springs track....what were normally small bumps in a car would put you in the air....and because of the laydown position, you had to basically look around your feet to drive....also great fun! Similar to a Formula Ford but much more immediate and intense!
I have a couple drawers of Hot Wheels, primarily Euro and racing cars. CHEAP, fun to look at, and don't take lot of space. I've found that in the corporate world of engineering in the auto business, there are always Hot Wheels pinned to the wall of some cubicles.
Also have a couple crates of slides/pictures I took from races in late 70's thru the 80's..mostly IMSA, SCCA, some Formula 1, several years of Pebble Beach and Historics at Laguna.
Books on Porsche, Alfa, Jag [mostly XKE + Service manual], Lotus 7, older Lamborghini & Ferrari, race car prep and technology, MGB, Mini, and driving. As you can see, I'm a bit scattered.

We have about 300 M. I. Hummel Figurines that we've been collecting since 1975. About 200 are shown in this image. A good number of these are rare, very rare, or unique, that were never released for production by Goebel and made in samples only. Many are Arbeitsmuster figurines or painter's samples, dated and initialed by the Master Painters.

Collecting them for almost 50-years is impressive. I was familiar with the name and knew that they were porcelain figurines but that's about it. Just looked at Wiki which pointed out the fact that there are many extremely rare examples and that production dates back to 1935.

I don't write much anymore, my handwriting being atrocious, but I do love the way a fountain pen flows along on a good sheet of paper.
