Does anyone know where to source the 2 wire connector for the alternator?

Thanks,
Dmitry
It’s been a few years, but look up the part number of that harness on the PET and see if the online parts dealers sell it. I believe I bought one, even though they only had the tiptronic version available and my car is a 6 speed. The tiptronic version is slightly longer but it worked.

I have a pair of "dcmachinist" power & ground cables I'd sell.
Doesn't include the 2 wire alternator exciter though.

Thanks all for replying. I was able to reach out to "dcmachinist" and get an alternator harness from his stock. He seems to be taking a bit of a break for personal reasons, but plans to resume production in a few months.

He let me know that he tracked down a supplier in S. America for the alternator harness plug, but needed to order a minimum of 500. Not really an option for the general enthusiast.

Can you post a pic of the alternator plug you are looking for? I looked at mind and didn't see any hard-to-find connectors? I must be overlooking something....

Sure thing - here's the alternator harness I just got and where it plugs into on the firewall side.

Looks painfully similar to a standard 2 pin molex, but just a bit different.

Probably easier to just cut it off and go to a 2 pin DTM connector.

Here’s the alternator cable I replaced with a new one I bought from a dealership. It was a few years ago and is for the tiptronic 968, so it’s a little longer than the manual 968’s harness. Maybe this will work for the 944s as well.

I could swear someone posted what that connector was somewhere and I 'thought' it was a Mate n Lok by TE, but I'm having no luck finding it. Have you concluded it's not available, or just haven't been able to find it. If it's truly NLA, it would be easy enough to just replace both sides with different connector (WatherPack, Molex, etc.). I bet it could also be 3D printed, since it's relatively large.

I did some poking around and this seems to be the latest info. It's been a couple months, maybe worth messaging him directly and seeing where he's at? Wonder if we could get him over here :)
He just posted this on RL 2 days ago with a picture of his cables, so suspect he'll be back "soon":

"I shut down my website and Ebay listings in August of 2022 due to divorce. Settlement has been decreed. I look at a new property tomorrow. I will likely rebuild there. Phoenix, etc."

The Anchor or Royal Excelene cable previous makers used in their kits is MUCH more plyable than the SGX & Flex-A-Prene that dcmachinist used in his. I think his kit cost me $230, do yourself a favor and DIY your battery & grounds using a softer, more plyable cable that will bend & lay more nicely than the super stiff cable.
I'm removing the dcmachinist set and DIYing my own cables.
