Pictures of Getty Ducktail Sport on your 997?
I am very happy about mine. Just got it back from the paint shop...pretty much perfect. Only comment is if you don't want the third brake light in the tip, order it that way. I did not (came with a plug to glue in) and the paint shop had to do a lot to get perfect ($$). But the final result is great.

Anyone know the difference between The Getty 997 ducktail “sport” and 997 ducktail “classic”? The Getty website is pretty vague about the differences…..

I actually just purchased the sport for my 05 997. I spoke with Mike at Getty and that was what he suggested. It’s a very close replica of the 997 sport classic tail where as the “classic” is much more similar to an air cooled ducktail. He said that the “Sport” is always what he recommends for 997’s because it matches the body lines really well.

This thread makes me miss my 997 Carrera which was equipped with a Getty Ducktail Sport. My experience with Mike and company over at Getty Designs was fantastic. There was ~2 week build time to have it ready to ship to me. Quality was top-notch. Make sure to have them do the primer service to make things easier. You can use your old decklid fan, latch, plus associated hardware on the ducktail. However, you'll need a cable loom if you want to incorporate a third brake light. Install/uninstall was very simple. It is also a highly sought after item so reselling it was a breeze. While it doesn't produce downforce per se, it is known to reduce lift at speed
. I miss this car, it was such a great all-around beater!
At non-track events, the grills are great for morning C&C's because they can be used to keep your food and coffee warm
Here are a few pics of my 997 (with focus on the ducktail) around the local northern CA tracks (Buttonwillow, Sonoma, Laguna Seca, & Thunderhill:
