Once APR or Unitronic, etc. figure out the newest DSG and can develop a TCU tune I'll consider a Stage 1 tune for both ECU and TCU after I get some miles built-up. In the meantime, I may just install an upgraded intercooler since all the tunes say you need that to obtain the rated power increase.Larry C wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 7:18 pm It’s not for everybody but a Stage 1 APR ECU tune, for $600, increases the HP to around 400 and the TQ to around 400 ft-lbs on pump gas. I had this tune on my 2016. The car was civil around town but a beast when you stepped on it.

For now, I just have a few minor mods on my 5-week-old R: custom front and rear license plate brackets, Porsche "turbo" script carbon fiber plate frames, gas hood strut, VW warning triangle to fill the ugly void in the hatch, and low-profile Euro rear outside headrests.
Next, I'll implement full Matrix Headlight capability and auto lane change. All the hardware is present in 2023 Rs, it just needs to be coded, which in my case will be done remotely.
I can't really comment on ultimate performance yet as I'm only halfway through the break-in, so haven't exceeded about 5,000 rpm and no full throttle. Still, the R does feel "lively," ha, ha.
It's interesting that a 2023 Golf R and a 944 S2 or 951 are both 168.9 inches long.
