It looks legit to me, especially considering that it's allegedly been accepted by spec racing, PCA racing and others. I watched the opening and end of the short 7-minute video and also talked to Pedro on the phone - very nice person. I like what it purports to do.

I'm going to get a further opinion on this from someone who knows far better than me. It may take some time but I'll let you know what I find out.

Great, would love to hear what you find out.

I see Rennline has a similar product but it appears to mount on the underside and has tie down loops. At a first glance I feel like I would prefer the Technobrace.

So, per Porsche lead tech, the 718 GT4 already has a brace of that type although it is two stamped steel pieces that do the same thing by joining the two halves of the rear subframe together. The sway-bar bearing mounts bolt them together if I'm understanding it correctly. The aluminum Techno Brace 2 bar would be stronger I'm sure but I don't think it would make a noticeable difference for a GT4.

However, I don't think a 718 GTS 4.0 has the 2-piece brace that's on the GT4. If that's the case, it would probably be of significant benefit.

I called Pedro and he said he had not installed one on a 718 GT4. He said they were originally designed and built for the 986/987 Boxsters and Caymans (the original Techno Brace) and the the TB2 was developed for 981/718. He did say if it didn't work out for your car you could send it back for a full refund. It's certainly not a lot of money.

Well, apologies to "Bama" the OP of this thread, as we've really hijacked his original question. However, I think he has his answer regarding re-usable numbers for autocrossing so maybe we will be forgiven! :angel:

@blueline

Tim, Can you have a quick look at the picture reference here and tell me if this is what you were thinking? The 718s all seem to have the black support that connects the two sway bar mounts together. Is this what you are speaking of? Can you glance at your GT4 and see if your looks like this? My GTS sure does.

@J-Dub

It's difficult for me to see mine as clearly as the pic you referenced due the underbody panels and the car not on a lift, but yes, that pic is of one of the two pieces. Here's a screenshot of a diagram. See parts #13 & 16.

The 718 came with the "reinforcement brace", but you can retrofit it on a 981(I did)

Another great place to check out is solo performance.com. Dave and Liz Whitworth run SPS and they have been active in the Autocross Community for 25 years. Their mobile Store will be at the Solo Nationals the first week of September in Lincoln, Ne. so if in that area you can come and watch 1300 crazy cone killers attack the cement of the Lincoln Municipal Airport ( actually racing on the side opposite the Airport Terminal). They have all kinds of numbers and other autocross stuff, along with safety equipment, gloves , suits, etc.

Thanks! I won't be able to make the runoffs in Lincoln but will certainly check them out on-line.

I think Pedro states his rig does not fit PDK cars.

The Rennline rig fits on my PDK 987. I had bought the set of four tiedowns, and did not like the front ones because they block the front jacking points. I left the rear tiedowns on just in case I need them someday. I then ordered the adjustable link, so I have setup you pointed out. I have the link out now because my sometime co-driver wanted the car legal for C Street in autocross.

So FlipE are you and your co-driver heading to Lincoln for the Solo Nationals?
