Outstanding! As you saw in my May post in this thread, we have many of the same and/or similar additions. Since that post, I've added Soul Performance Jet-Hot coated OAP's and M-Engineering's M-Tune suite for GT4.

We'll meet up at NCM, Barber, PTC or somewhere one of these days.

That would be great to meet up at any track! The APR tune is noticeably better than the Softronic!! I hated to spend the money at first but it had a 30 money back guarantee. Well I’m not interested in a refund at all. I have heard nothing but good things about the M-Engineering tune.

Tim,
Did I miss your review on the OAPs and the Tune? What are your impressions?

That is great that you found a tune you are happy with. Can you share how they compare and what you did not like about the Softronic? What makes APR stand out?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Tim,

I hadn't posted anything yet, so here is a bit of my observations so far.

The Soul OAP's are everything I expected. They sound good to me inside while driving and listening from the rear at idle. Initial feedback from a considerably curtailed day at NCM by a few listening as I went down the front straight was that the car sounded great.

Cruising drone can be a bit tiring but it's not at all bad and it's so easy to just shut off the PSE for a bit if I want a break. I had it on and off several times on the way up and back home that day (a little over an hour each way). It was fun to go back and forth.

The M-Engineering tune is sweet. I told them not to worry with auto start/stop programming since turning it off is as automatic for me as turning the ignition key - I do it automatically without thinking. (If I want it added, it only takes them a minute or so to write the file for me to then flash the ECU again.) PSE operates as it should. If switched on, it stays open.

Flashing the tune to the ECU was easy using a laptop plugged into OBDII. M-Engineering was super quick with the return of the correct Stage 2 tune files for the car after I sent them what they needed. Simply download the software program on laptop, plug into the OBDII with the supplied dongle and USB, connect USB to the laptop, run the software program and let it read the car's parameters, email the file(s) to M-Engineering and wait for the return tune files written specifically for my car. Flash the ECU and you're done. I have the file to flash back to factory. Can go back and forth as often as I want.

As for performance, I'll know better in a few weeks after a day at PTC. It rained all day at NCM - fairly heavy at times, so I really didn't get a chance to experience the tune. I went out first group and had at best 15 minutes of semi-dry track before the rain became a problem.

They closed the track for two hours due to lightning in the area but I went back out again a few hours later in fairly steady rain but, obviously, took it down several notches. Even then it was tricky. NCM has four places where water flows across the track river-like; crossing them can be entertaining. Better be in control or you're off. A couple of drivers did just that including another 718 GT4 that got into the tire wall. The rain never stopped more than for a few minutes at a time that day, so I packed it in around 2pm. Driving home required extra concentration.

So, there you go. No performance feedback on the tune yet. Cliché time: Stay tuned. :P

I always felt like there was more in the car than what the Softronic tune offered. Immediately I could notice a lot more torque throughout! The lack of a better word, the car seems to have balls now. The car feels so much more responsive. I track my car so I wanted as much out of a tune that I could get for a NA car and APR nailed it!! I know APR put a lot of research not only on a dyno but at the track. I was able to talk to the guy that did this tune. He now works at GMP Atlanta but also owns a 718 GT4 so he knows the tune very well. I am going back for the PDK tune now to see what it’s all about.

The downsides for the APR tune.
Cost!!

Dealer installed but I found a shop that only charges $50.

It doesn’t turn off Auto Stop Start

Had a full day on track today at PTC with our smallish private group where we the first to run the new, alternate track layout that adds more straight and cuts out 4 turns. Both configurations (our new circuit names: Polecat Club and Polecat Pro) are awesome and both are about as much fun as one can have on track. I'll post the two track layouts for comparison later.

To answer your question from Sep 4th, the latest changes (OAP's, M-Tune, Apex 19" forged with wider rubber up front) were outstanding - I couldn't have been more pleased. The car ran great and handled even better, which is saying a lot considering how well it was in both those respects before.

Will try to post some pics, videos, etc in a new thread when I get a minute.

Going back to NCM in 10-days so that will be a bit of different test of the new setup.

Gosh I love the 718!

What a tease , Tim tells us he has new 19 inch wheels , but doesn't tell us how wide they are? Then he mentions he has wider meats up front , but alas, he no longer mentions how wide. I am thinking he is just keeping secrets so when he shows up with really wide rubber we will all be intimidated! Gotta believe he might be slapping Indiana's finest on there and if they are A7s we will have confirmation he is going to pretend modesty when he fact he wants sheer dominance, ha!
