They say there is no dumb question, but this may be the exception, I dunno.

I spend a LOT of time in my garage, and almost always have the key to my 992 in my pocket. Most days, I just go about my day in the garage and the car just sits there doing nothing. Every now and then, however, the car decides it needs to 'wake up' every time I get close to the car -- i.e., beeping, running lights on, flipping up door handles, etc. This is what lead to the dead/deactivated battery when I got the car PPF'd. Can anyone tell me what setting (or whatever) is making this happen? I assume it's the comfort access system but why does it only do this one in a while -- most days I can walk all around the car and it just ignores me, but other days it's constantly beeping and carrying on.....

It’s not that random for me. It happens very regularly.
Maybe your battery in the key fob is not at full strength.

Thanks. So your car always wakes up when you get near it with the key? Can't imagine my key is weak this soon (?) and it sure seems like some days it consistently wakes up every time I walk by, and some days it consistently does not -- like there is a setting somewhere I am missing....

Yes always wakes up when I get within about three feet. Kind of annoying actually. I may disable that feature.

Hi Tom, if the keys are near the car, it will wake it up. It happens to my BMWs if I have the keys with me down in the garage after been asleep for days. I work from home, so I don't drive any of my cars, I have 4 cars, so I keep them on a battery tender, always.

My car always wakes up too

If I remember, I leave the keys on the workbench which is far enough away to not activate comfort access but close enough to be convenient when I need them.
