1987 Porsche 930 belong to my kid brother passed away from Covid. I decided to restore the car since were the second owners in my family since 1994 all original, except wheels and exhaust, which I have the originals it’s a work in progress.

@Saintedapollo1 - So sorry to hear about your younger brother. Did he have any other issues, or was it covid alone that took him? Sometimes the treatment methodologies that hospitals were forced to follow killed covid patients - could this have been the case? In any event, by external evidence including the accumulation of this wonderful car, my beliefs assure me that he is in a place immeasurably better than here, and I would pray for his help in seeking God's graces for yourself and those you love.
The car he left you looks like a treasure, and should be worth one when fully restored. My Porsche began life as a Carrera, and has been continually massaged since about 1984 by two dedicated owners, the latter of whom is myself. It is becoming an authentic series II 935 tribute, prepared for both street and track, although my car is supercharged rather than turbo for improved throttle response. Modern turbo systems have almost no lag, however, and I may at some future point return to turbo. Images attached, the first of which was taken at the Eyes on Design Concours, to which my car was invited in 2022:

Yours was a tough way to acquire the 930 but it's wonderful that you've taken the route with it that you're now on.Saintedapollo1 wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 3:22 pm 1987 Porsche 930 belong to my kid brother passed away from Covid. Good luck and keep us abreast of the restoration progress. And welcome to Carpokes!

@blueline - Thanks for the "welcome, newbie", but I've been a member of this forum since 2022, usually contributing to the classic air-cooled thread. And my car is a streetable tribute to the series II 935, the vehicle which either derived from or inspired the Turbo 930 (it's a bit of a chicken and egg story), so very much a different project.
I know you're just being nice - I'm just yanking your chain!

No worries but I think you misread my post - it was a reply directly to "Saintedapollo1" rather than you using the "reply with quote" function. It was to his original (and first) Carpokes post.Flakbau wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 5:03 pm @blueline - Thanks for the "welcome, newbie", but I've been a member of this forum since 2022, usually contributing to the classic air-cooled thread. Look at the quoted text above my post that's part of my reply - that's his (Saintedapollo1's) post.

@blueline - Aha! This happens every time I try to be a smart aleck. I saw your post after mine, so I just assumed - and what do they say about that term?

I lived in MI for 18 years, but that's been a long time ago. I was in Downriver for a time and later in Ypsi and A2.
Since I've been back in TN, I've trekked back up to MI a number of times. A couple of quiet, late October journeys back in the 90's, always stopping for a few days on a nearly deserted (at that time of year) Mackinac Island and from there on up to Sault Ste Marie, then to Whitefish Point and onward west to Munising and back down - Harbor Springs, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc.
I also have made a number of quick RT treks from Nashville to Fife Lake - always in the dead of winter. I love it - isolated, especially for the Lower Peninsula. Also a few trips through your part of the state to Lapeer and Columbiaville areas (also in the middle of winter), but that's been over 10-years ago.
For some reason, I seem to always time trips during blizzards. I've had some brutal journeys!
