What about a 305/30/19 rear and 265/35/19 front?

https://tiresize.com/calculator/ if you need to compare your street tires to your track tires.
I'm going to look into that. Thank you Jeremy!

Ok - This will work! The tire size calculator is also a good tool - thanks again jeremy!

Apex lists the 305/30-19 as an alt size for the 11" wide wheels, so that matches what you've suggested which is excellent! I bet the reason they don't list the Potenza RE71RS tires is because maybe that 305/30-19 size wasn't available from Bridgestone when Apex put together their recommended tires and they haven't updated their lists.

This is what Apex has on their site as Alt 1 tires for their 19x9 and 19x11 wheel sets for the 718 GT4:

Alternative 1:

Front Tire Size: 265/35-19
Rear Tire Size: 305/30-19
Front camber plates required
Rear wheel camber plates or fender rolling may be required.
Max Performance Summer: Michelin PS4S (300 TW)
Extreme Performance Summer: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 240 Connect (240 TW), Yokohama AD08R (200 TW), Goodyear Supercar 3 (220 TW), Falken RT660 (200 TW)
R-Compound: Toyo R888R (100 TW), Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 (180 TW), Nankang AR-1 (100 TW), Goodyear Supercar 3R (100 TW)
Semi-Slick: No options currently available

The rear tire size is exactly what you suggested.

Thoughts on the Bridgestones vs the Michelins? I'm going to give the RE71RS tires a shot. Reviews are good and the tire looks great. Lots of support here from Willy, you and others too.

I was going to say that I was not sure about your concern as there should be similar sizes that would work for your GT4 but Jeremy beat me to it. Apex is good, but with tire sizes being added quite quickly and I personally know of two Manufacturers who may have more sizes popping up this year. Now tire rumors run more rampant than stories in the National Enquirer or a Conspiracy Theorist, so we may see delays, ha.

Check with Luke Pavlik ( ext. 4362 ) at Tire Rack whenever you are wondering , he was our tire wholesaler when I was selling Vipers and he is also a Trackrat. I have known him for 25 years, he autocrosses, tracks, and has run the One Lap numerous times, so he is a Salesman that actually walks the walk. He has given me last minute advice that helped alot over the years and he is the go to guy for many of us that burn up those round rubber air filled auto donuts!!

Thanks Bill - and thanks for the lead on Luke at Tire Rack, although I added his name as my contact way back when you first mentioned him on Carpokes. I know how to do the heavy "WiilyDaP" name drop on Luke if he's ever needed! :D

For anyone chatting with Luke, it is probably better to drop the name Bill P from Woodhouse to make sure he knows it's me, as I have acquired alot of nicknames playing with Trackrats and Petrolheads over the years. Frankly there is no need to mention me, just let Luke know what you want for you car and he will steer you towards the proper tire for your needs. Do mention if you are a serious road course warrior or Cone Killer, as he keeps up on the current trends on those tires really well.
If you want some advice on autocross tires, do feel free to drop me a PM, because one can learn about many things in life through the osmosis of participation and for 42 years I have either been one mile from a Nationals Autocross Course to only 60 miles away today. I helped start the Salina Region of the SCCA ( Salina, Ks. ) when I was super close to the site and one only has to observe and ask questions over the years to notice what is working well. Glad to pass along those notes and since the Nebraska Region runs around 8 -9 events besides the Solo Nationals, the Ne. Club often sees National Champions pop in throughout the year to test the tarmac. It helps that the Nebraska has a large group of Champions or Trophy Winners, also , and there is some tire testing going on all year. My main focus has been W2W or Time Trials over the past 25 years so I will be happy to pass on some thoughts on what tires I have noticed work pretty well for both track and autocross disciplines. Fortunately more and more drivers are realizing the best and first mod to go quick is tires, and from TireRack to Grassroots Motorsport to social media, tire testing is at the pinnacle of constant review.

I have only had a used set of Michelin Cup2s so I can't give a fair comparison. I have had NT01s on a different car that were great but did not last long. The RE71RS do last a good amount of time and don't fall off during a session provided you find a good pressure. I have been out with them for 55 minutes and they did not feel like they were getting hot and greasy. Start at 25 or so and target 28-32 hot. Of course like any tire, you will have to adjust the pressure through the day, likely letting out air as the day warms up.

My GT4rs PDK shifter just came in the mail from EdGuards. I had chalk stitching put in, and guards red embroidered "718".... Stunning work... Will try to get it installed this week after I watch the install video a bunch of times.

Quick note about Luke Pavlik ( #4362 ) at TireRack that I mentioned above. He talks the talk working at the Rack, but he also walks the walk, autocrossing and racing for over 25 years. You are getting a guy who stays up on tires not just as his job, but as part of his passion. I am posting this little service announcement because if you don't get him in the next couple of weeks it is because he is out running " One Lap of America !! " He has been my go to professional for almost 25 years and he has clued me in on some important tire compound and design changes over those years.

Can’t wait, as Ed is producing a boot in Graphic Blue with Racing Yellow stitching that should arrive soon.
