Very small add on I forgot to post...

Most people leave the plastic screen protector on (the one with the little yellow tab), and that works quite well. Unfortunately, mine looked kinda rough when I took delivery, and I am not a huge fan of the matte screen on the 718. I would rather have a high gloss screen, to match the high gloss carbon trim.

I bought a high gloss screen protector. As small of a mod it is, I love the effect :)

It protects the PCM screen. The same as putting a screen protector on your phone.

I did not buy it to protect my screen ha, I bought it so it turns my screen from a Matte/dull screen to a high gloss screen. Some like matte screens, some like Gloss.

I like the idea.

We've left the factory screen protector on the new Cayenne S. It definitely looks better although I don't know how long it will remain that way.

Was the one you bought just a regular large sized screen-type protector or is it something specially made for PCM-like screens? Was trimming to make it fit easy?

So it was made specifically for this screen. It was actually from Amazon. Surprised how good quality it is. $13bucks!

Due to our decades of having cell phone appendages, I think most of us are not only used to glossy screens by now, but much prefer them that way. I know I do. The matte appearance of Porsche's PCM screens look worn to me. My opinion is that they are dull - both in reality and figuratively.

Having said that, I think the matte design is meant to cut down on glare in certain situations. Also, as bright and colorful as the newest generations of icons and displayed information are (such high resolution!!) along with the fact that the displays are generally on all the time the car is running combines to negate the dull look. For me, it's only when the car is off that the screens don't look up to snuff.

Thanks! I never even considered that someone might be making pieces of Mylar (or whatever the material is) for specific auto manufacturers' display screens. It should have been obvious to me that it would be the case considering how display screens have taken over dashboards. Lol.

It's time to look into fitting the other P-cars with glossy covers. Experimentation! At $13 (give or take), I can't complain if they don't don't work as expected.

I was referring to carplay. It looks much better in high gloss than matte. Again, that's just my opinion. Wanted to share incase others wanted to try it.

Glare has never been an issue...not sure how glare would be an issue if the car has a roof

Finger prints aren't any better or worse

Note: You just have to REALLY take your time when installing. It comes with a little install kit (just like phone screens). I screwed up the first time, thankfully I was able to take it off and re-apply ha.

Do you think removal at some point in the future will be difficult, especially if it's been on for a longish time? I wouldn't want to damage the OEM screen.

Highly doubt it, there are no strong adhesives or anything. The same as a phone screen protector. You can peel it off after years.

Static Cling: Some screen protectors are designed to adhere to the phone screen through static electricity. The screen protector is made of a material that naturally clings to the surface of the screen without the need for any adhesive. When you apply the screen protector to the phone, static electricity holds it in place. This allows for easy removal and repositioning without leaving any sticky residue on the screen.

Silicone Gel: Another method used in some screen protectors involves a silicone gel layer that adheres to the screen through suction. The silicone gel is tacky and forms a bond with the phone screen when pressure is applied during the installation process. This creates a secure attachment without the need for adhesive. The silicone gel layer also helps to fill in minor scratches or imperfections on the screen, providing additional protection.
