Project 5: Carbon Inner Door Sills
These turned out better than I thought. I am also contemplating getting the carbon version of the illuminated door sills, but got these as well. The carbon weave is the same. Still undecided if I am going to get the carbon outter door sills, the stainless finish is kinda growing on me... I have a piece of PPF cut out to put on these, even though the resin does not scratch that easy.

Do you have dimensions on the oil and water caps (I'm waiting for my Cayman and can't just go out to the garage with a tape measure)? Materials you used? Sources for the font and graphics?
I may have located a guy who makes decals who can replicate the stickers.
In advance, much and many thanks.

The carbon insert is a form fitted metal dish that fits perfectly into the oil/water caps. On top of that, I just made it my own.sleon67 wrote: Mon May 20, 2024 6:39 pm Do you have dimensions on the oil and water caps (I'm waiting for my Cayman and can't just go out to the garage with a tape measure)? You can go on ETSY and get someone to print you off some OIL/WATER decals in the Porsche font for really cheap.
Sent you measurement picture...

@718-4Me @71eh I was just looking at photos of both of your oil and water cap covers. Both cars show the oil cover on the left and water on the right. Isn’t the oil on the right? I hope so because that’s were I’ve been putting my oil.

Regarding the Oil & Coolant fill cap discussion in the previous couple of posts, be VERY careful !!! (Sorry for the hijack but this is critical.)
Owners manuals for both of my 2021 718s (GT4 & GTS) have incorrect illustrations in the owners manuals for adding Oil & Water. As I understand it, all 2021 (and maybe more years?) were affected.
The manuals have the Oil & Coolant filler illustrations reversed, incorrectly showing Coolant on the right and Oil on the left, the opposite of what they are supposed to be.
Porsche finally issued a supplemental manual last year. There were reports of some owners putting water in the oil and oil in the water. Yikes!
I crabbed about it 3-years ago to any who would listen.
Porsche finally got around to printing and issuing a supplemental manual (in 34 languages no less) correcting the error. I've attached a scan of the three pages of the English language correction from the 34-language supplemental manual showing the Coolant on the LEFT and the Oil on the RIGHT as they should be.
The "Supplement to the Driver's Manual" only says "718 Models" so I don't know what other years might have the incorrect info. It does say on the 2nd page that it pertains to 6-cyl cars only. Was 2021 the only year with incorrect manuals? I have no idea.
I've attached the scans along with a PDF of the scanned pages.

Tim,
Thanks for the clarification. Definitely a bad and potentially significant error. Maybe this topic needs its own dedicated thread?
Thanks,
Larry
