I've been re-visiting this project from last summer. The new printer has opened up the possibility of making a very thin and light weight wing for the 992, without the bulk of my first effort and without the need for painting since they look reasonably good right off the printer. I kind of doubt I'll get there, but I'm also trying to get it to the point where they will clip on securely without the need for tape. The ones in these pictures are clipped on with no tape but I wouldn't trust them at speed yet.
Does anyone have the part number for the factory corner piece handy (left or right ok) and/or does anyone have a stock 992 piece handy (broken clips ok -- just helps to have it in hand as I work on the CAD model and test fits). Still working on the 'look' too. These are straight off the printer, but I don't like the flat wing look myself so will be updating to more of a sculpted look like the very first one I did. Input welcome!

I just checked the 718 & the 992. By sight they look identical but I don't think they are. It's not easy to measure them properly on the car but my crude attempts suggest that the 992 version is slightly smaller - maybe 1/8" to 3/16ths on the rear edge and also possibly a bit shorter on the bottom horizontal edge. That's my totally unscientific response!Larry C wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 12:18 pm Apparently this would be the same size for the 991,992,981 and 718

I 'think' that they are different part numbers, but they are close enough that some of the stick-on wings are cut to a one-size fits all shape. AWE, for example, makes a nice wing that completely replaces the factory part, and they list a different part number for their 992 version. The AWE version looks very good to me -- looks like a factory part that just happens to have the air deflector. The downside is you have to disassemble things to install it. My thought was to make a clip on version that looks as good as the AWE piece (or nearly so), but with 'no assembly required." The stick-on ones currently available look...well... stuck-on to me....blueline wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:47 pmI just checked the 718 & the 992. It’s actually a scientific opinion. I wrongly assumed that the 718,981,991 and 992 had the same size wing because they sell a ‘one size fits all’ model.

Another OEM-esque CP part.Tom wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 5:02 pmI 'think' that they are different part numbers, but they are close enough that some of the stick-on wings are cut to a one-size fits all shape. Thanks for the offer but I’m not sure I need them. I almost never drive with windows open and when I do, it’s at low speed.
