"Let’s first start off by not calling it a hybrid. Instead, let’s call it a T-hybrid ... this isn’t the same type of hybrid that you would find in a Prius or even a Cayenne Hybrid. That’s an E-Hybrid. No need to plug-in this 911 Carrera GTS."
"Porsche decided to install a 14.7-horsepower electric motor on the shaft between the turbo and compressor wheels. Its job is to spool up the turbo quicker than if it didn’t have it thus reducing any turbo lag. How much quicker does the motor help spool it up? It can reach peak boost now in 0.8 seconds versus almost three seconds on the 992.1 GTS with twin turbos."
No starter or generator.
Electric A/C & pwr steering.
Water pump integrated inside the engine
No drive or accessory belts.
No EV-only mode.
New engine is 3.6L vs previous 3.0L but 4.5" less engine height.
Additional total vehicle weight of 103 lbs is minimal for what's been done to the car.
Tuners will have a field day adding massive HP (200?, 300?, more?) once they figure it all out.

I was under the impression that the Boxster/Cayman replacements were going to be all-electric, but Porsche is moving the bar behind the scenes trying to gauge customer reactions and moving gov regs, so who knows? In the past I've said I'd never own anything but a pure ICE. However, if one wants a new 911 GTS...........
My excuse for the day will be that the T-hybrid is not a really a hybrid in the strictest sense that we've come to expect from that term. Rather, it's more about enhanced turbo performance (pretty awesome, actually), HP assist using an electric built into the PDK, and lots of new technology, all of which assists attaining Lambda 1, helping meet certain (unnecessary imo) regulations.

Exactly what the sales manager told me when I bought my new 2015 911 Carrera 4 GTS in 2018. The last of the normally aspirated Carreras.
Besides, no need to downgrade to buy something new.

Porsche has been doing hybrids the same as pretty much every other manufacturer. Check out the 963 Hypercars (and those from BMW, Ferrari, etc.) to see where that technology can go. If you read a bit more on the new GTS (some good video too) you'll see it's not a true hybrid in the usual sense. It's actually some impressive engineering. How good will it be? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, Porsche is referring to it as a T-Hybrid. With an electric motor running the turbo and a small HP/torque assist electric built into the PDk, it's not at all like the regular hybrids out there. For instance, there is no electric-only mode.
However, I realize where you're coming from and I tend to agree, but if one wants a specific new vehicle one must either play the game or forgo obtaining anything new.

From Porsche's configurator for the 992.2 GTS.
This is the first time that I've ever seen a 911 that doesn't call for Premium fuel. There has been no mention of this in any of the intro videos or articles. I can't even find any mentions on the internet regarding the car only needing regular fuel. Is this part of a Euro mandate?
It was just by accident at the end of a build I was playing with last night that I saw it. Can it be possible?
Any other build will say "Premium Unleaded".
