It looks great - it appears very well-made and it fits nicely too!Leader wrote: Thu Jul 25, 2024 1:42 pm So, my latest AliExpress delivery arrived yesterday. It was not expensive and I didn’t have big hopes for it, but after a “tryout” I decided to install it.
It’s (faux) carbon fiber surrounding the switches on the center console. I re-affixed my enamel “718” badge and I’m good to go!
What did you do with your 718 this week?

I just want more of the same! Trying to find the time to do more of these types of drives. We did is back around 2001 in a VW Jetta (also manual) and sat up towards the summit overlooking a small pond we hiked too, fabulous.Treemagnet wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 2:23 pm
I’m jelly! Fabulous road….first time over (1986) Cottonwood Pass was in our ’60 Olds 98 Convertible….last time (2006) was the Bicycle Tour of Colorado on a Look 586.
Riding up and over today would be a challenge from not getting hit as the shoulders are really small or nonexistent and there is a lot of traffic.
Look 586 - nice bike, still today.

THAT'S what the frunk is for........wine! Silly me, did not think of that before! Glad I could assist in the motivation. Wine > fishing gear if there were to be a hard choice.M5-Mike wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 8:58 am It has been a long time since we went cycling at Crested Butte and fishing on the Dolores R and the Black Canyon. We were talking yesterday about making the trip in September, then your post arrived. Thanks for the extra motivation! We take the Cayman on long road trips and agree it is amazing. We find room for two cases of wine that we fill along the way, with plenty of room for duffles. We might have to forgo the wine if we take fishing gear. Big decision.

Yesterday, I replaced my CTM6's GT4 shifter with a Numeric Racing shifter, and also installed Numeric Racing pedals.
Then I un-installed the Numeric Racing brake and clutch pedals because they rattled! Numeric is sending replacements.
For all the talk about how flexy and sloppy the stock shifter is, the Numeric shifter made little difference. I do see that the Numeric unit is a quality build that likely would outlive the stock piece... one day. But at 34,000 miles, my stock unit has no discernible wear or slop.
Virtually all of the shifter play is due to slack in the cables or the linkages on/in the gearbox. No shifter can fix that. I'm going to keep the Numeric unit only because I've already installed it and I am confident it will never cause any trouble.
My GT4 'shorty' shifter is listed here https://www.carpokes.com/viewtopic.php?t=3265
on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/266928331204
and the 718 Forum.

Order the one from Amazon - took over 3 weeks to arrive. Took me another 2 weeks to find the time to install. So far I like it. Much less expensive than my other cars.71eh wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 1:47 pmFor sure!Pachanga718 wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 1:11 pm@71eh Thank you! I was just getting to this point in looking this up and you saved me some time in looking for the screen protector. I have these on all my cars and getting to put one on the Cayman as I have been distracted too much driving it since I got it last month! Thanks again!71eh wrote: Fri May 24, 2024 8:32 am
So it was made specifically for this screen. It was actually from Amazon. Surprised how good quality it is. $13bucks!

Installed one on our '17 BS. Liked it so much I had one waiting when our '22 BGTS was delivered. Absolutely one of the easiest and best bang for the buck mods available.Pachanga718 wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 8:22 amOrder the one from Amazon - took over 3 weeks to arrive. The 586 was my all time favorite frame. Sadly, it met it's demise during the 2012 Hotter-N-Hell 100. This is where 12,000 riders start at sunrise, only to be greeted at the finish to temps usually exceeding 100°. After dropping back to eat around mile 58, I was carefully making my way back to the front of a 200 rider lead peleton when the screams began....then the sounds of bodies thumping off asphalt....metal scraping on the ground....and just when I though I had evaded the massive pileup, the guy in front of me goes down and I launch off his shoulders. It was a beautiful endo that would make an Olympic diver proud.Pachanga718 wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2024 7:54 amI just want more of the same! Trying to find the time to do more of these types of drives. Some idiot dropped a water bottle forcing more than 60 riders to the ground. Approximately 20 went to hospital via ambulance and one via helicopter. The remaining 20ish riders, who weren't as severely injured or only had mechanical issues beyond repair, were portaged to the nearest medical tent or back to the finish line. My injuries weren't that severe, but my carbon fiber frame was DOA with a silver dollar sized hole in the downtube. That frame now hangs from the garage ceiling over our BGTS as a constant reminder of why I stopped doing event road rides....to many newbies, with to few clues.

I got in my set of Motorsport Gold 18 inch Apex Forged Wheels ( special thanks to Ryan and Brandon for a super quick delivery ) and my Purple Crack Rubber is supposed to land in Kneebraskee on Saturday. I am always amazed at how fast I get stuff from Johnny Miller , but since he is a past Trans Am driver I guess he is used to doing things quickly.
PS - Kudos to Miller who gives Racers and Time Trialers a discount code on tires, but also has a bonus for NASA HPDE drivers ( really unique program ).
PSPS - had to post some pics as I have had 9 sets of Apex wheels over the years but the new packaging is the best I have seen on any wheel. Very good attention to making sure your wheels are not damaged.
