New Lexus Plug In for wifey

My wife just purchased a 2025 Lexus NX450h plug in hybrid.

A compromise since EV range is only 40 miles as opposed to a full EV but for the moment we estimate 90% of her driving will be battery only.

Gas engine and electric m0tor combined a not too shabby 302 hp.

She loves these cars - it is her 4th NX.

Loaded with tech, high quality and reliable.

Congrats on the new ride! You're certainly correct on the excellent reliability that appears to be enduring with Lexus/Toyota even with all the new tech-laden gizmos all vehicles have these days. Plus, it looks good AND we've all learned that it's always good to get the wifey what she wants!

Looking good. Congrats! Does the engine just remain off until the batteries die out, then kick on and takeover (smoothly?) while driving?

p.s., I think Lexus/Toyota have some of the best and most original paint colors in the industry these days. Their Infrared paint on an LC500 on a sunny day is pretty special.

The NX lets you select the operating mode - electric only, auto hybrid ( gas and/or electric) or gas only.

In electric mode when the battery is depleted the gas engine kicks in automatically.

In auto mode the battery gets charged while driving with regenerative braking.

I agree about the colors - my wife's car is "copper crest" although Lexus still focuses more on the "standard" white, black, silver and gray so finding a special color is not always easy.
