The top is a little different than the bottom I see. I may go look at one locally to get the mounts just right. Was it 100% flat before you drilled the holes and, if so, how was it clear where the holes should be drilled? Just trying to understand if the underside of the mount needs any relief cuts to clear un-drilled bumpers?
Tom, I'm happy to drop by with my Spyder if you want to see if your new or old designs fit! I was just thinking I'd like a set.Bob Z wrote: Tue Jul 20, 2021 7:34 pm Here is what the plate area of the 718 Spyder looks like, and it is probably the same as other 718s so maybe someone can let Tom take a look at their car so he can make these for us? Or I can take a piece of paper and put it over the area and press along the edges to make a template for you Tom.

Kit, for sure! PM me and we can pick a time. In the meantime, based on Bob's super helpful pictures, I came up with these prototypes for the 718. I noodled with different rectangular designs with rounded corners, etc. but none of them worked well for the little round islands around the upper screws. These are intended to overcome that.....and still provide plenty of molding tape contact area and stability. They are also 3mm thinner than the 991 and 992 mounts because they don't need to clear any ridges on the bumper. That should help keep the plate from standing off the bumper too far in light of the raised area that's already there. What do you think? I did them in yellow and used a Florida plate in Bob's honor....
Those look great, I'll ping you for a time to drop by.Tom wrote: Mon Jul 26, 2021 5:27 pm Kit, for sure! PM me and we can pick a time. Kit's going to swing by this week for a test fit. Assuming they are good to go, I'll send out a set to you by the end of the week.Bob Z wrote: Mon Jul 26, 2021 5:30 pm Thanks Tom and what you came up with looks like it should work fine...nice job!

Hey Tom, could something like this be developed for us 944S2/951 owners for the rear plate? They look great on the 911 models.

Hmmm..... Never thought of that. I'll have to take a look at the back of my 951. Doesn't the plate hang down below the bumper, such that there'd be nothing to put lower mounts on? Might need to get creative there....Latitude48 wrote: Thu Jul 29, 2021 6:24 pm Hey Tom, could something like this be developed for us 944S2/951 owners for the rear plate? The crazy part on the new cars is that the tow hook is behind the plate, so people who track their car need to take the plate on and off all the time, and that wears out the holes in the plastic bumper pretty quickly...
Looking forward to a set Tom...I am sure these will be very popular and you can count on me to spread the word albeit those that know of these from the 991s will already know how good they are!
