Not yet. Most of the mods are QoL/styling improvements as opposed to actual performance mods. Visited the local track (Sonoma) for the first time in my life earlier this month and had a blast riding passenger in a 997. A ride along can be part of the impetus to start taking your Porsche to the track or autocross. Autocrossing is a riot and you are in a great area of the Country for that. The NorCal SCCA group is very active ( I know they run some autocrosses down in Salinas ) but the other strength is the PCA Clubs in your part of California are active also. I would definitely look into Autocrossing next year and you might find DE's quite often up at Thunderhill.

Wow! Those images constitute whole bunches of beautiful (as actor Bill Cosby would have put it). I still maintain that the white body paint on that particular vintage (2012) Cayman constitutes a visual feast. And personally speaking, it is my opinion that the Cayman is one of the most spectacular designs to emerge from the Porsche Design Bureau...ever! Even better than the latest iterations of the ubiquitous 911 spawn! Love the fuel protective filler flap, too!
I've long felt that the earlier a design is, the 'purer' it is. A good example in case of point would be the Datsun 240Z vice the later issues (260Z, 280Z). The later 'updates' pale in contrast to the purity and perfection of that original styling exercise! I once had a splendid lime-green 72 240Z and still regret having let it go...
As for the Boxster vice the Cayman coupe, I've always favored the roadster hardtop style. Never really 'got into' the raptop sportscar aesthetic myself (I make an exception for the Targa style roof, which is, in my opinion, the best of both worlds), so if I had a 'modern' era P-car, it would definitely be a Cayman (and either yellow or white, such as your beauty!). Lots to agree with Herr 914 Putschman, as the early Caymans transported me back to the glory days of the 60s and the beauteous 904 Lemans contender. Seeing the 904 as a young lad barely out of puberty, I experienced auto lust of a magnitude not felt before in my brain, hammer pedal foot and gearshifting right palm. I thanked Porsche for taking that lovely form and updating it to a road worthy car for this Century and my money went where my mouth is, placing an order and acquiring a crocodilian speed merchant last August. I will, politely disagree with Das 914 Meisterin that the earliest Cayman is the purest because I have a conceited notion that the very best Cayman one has is the one in their garage, ha. Have to stop writing now, I need to go out into the garage for some loving admiration of my Mistress of Speed , Handling, Braking and flowing form!

I just spent a frigid 45 minutes in 'auto-eroica' meseff, struggling to determine why my Jezibel's freshly installed Momo 'Tuner' steering wheel refused to interact with the Momo horn button switch that was supposed to go 'seamlessly' with it. It was roughly 29 degrees F. out there in the stable [edited on behalf of Mrs. Carpokes --Tom], as I worked on that knotty problem. Finally got the verdammt switch to ground properly and Gott in Himmel! It now works well enough to raise the living dead! Your remark about 'loving the model you have in your garage' evokes memories of that old C&W song refrain that goes, "If ya cain't love the one yew want, love the one yer with!". Still, we are in total agreement that the Cayman is a beauteous beastie, regardless of the year, IMS bearing problem be damned and full (warp) speed ahead! Now that the horns are in Ordnung, Jez will no longer have to go into an unavoidable collision with a monster FORD F-150 'Tremor' or 'Raptor' pickup without a loud squawk of protest, at least! Sgt. Schultz himself would approve, I am certain!

Hi everyone, my name is Joe. Back in the 90s when I was 17 and looking for my first car, my Dad and I stopped in at a little used car dealership which happened to have a beautiful red 944. That car made such an impression on me. It was well out of my measly price range at the time, but we thought long and hard before ultimately deciding it wasn't the best idea for a 17 year old with no real income.
Well, I'm in my 40s now and just bought a red 1985.5 944 a couple of months ago and have loved every moment. Feels like it was always meant to be. Just needed the timing to be right. It's tucked away for the winter now, but I've got all sorts of little fixes and updates I plan to do over the winter (like replace my broken odometer gear!). I'm looking forward to learning tons from y'all.
