We enjoyed a dry event this time around. The course designers have been experimenting with different layouts and are starting to get a lot more out of the limited confines of the Salinas location.

My best run was in the morning and in the afternoon I tried a different camera location. I like the view, though it results in a lot more wind noise.

Great track and thanks for posting as the only way those of us in the Frigid Midwest can race now is vicariously through fun videos, ha. Hopefully we will get more folks to share their track exploits and hopefully I can post some videos this Spring -- have to get my new Garmin installed.

PS - I can feel your pain, I had a similar issue happen years back in Spec Miata where going off track to avoid an accident somehow upset the timing. No wreck , but first place disappeared as the car was down on power , and it didn't have much to start with, ha. Lost the Championship that year due to this incident, so I can really commiserate!

Here's a really old one from 2010. At the same track that they hold the World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney, Australia. The car was a 1986 944 turbo with some KW 2 way race suspension. Bigger brakes. A larger turbo. Probably making about 320bhp. The event is a time trial where you're on track with cars from various different classes but who are doing similar laptimes. So you're not meant to overtake unless clearly signaled and in safe positions.

The eagle eyed will notice an early prototype internal weight redistribution system on the passenger side. Followed by an internal smoke screen so people can't see who is driving.

The red 996 turbo a couple of cars in front is on Michelin slicks while I'm on Nitto NT01s. The Evo is quite modified and track only. My car was still a street car back then.

Nice Patrick!

When the prototype "internal weight distribution system" (aka the seat back) first popped into the thread, the first thing I thought of was the auto pilot blow up figure in "Airplane"! Lol. (Don't ask me why that link came to mind 'cause I haven't a clue. It just did!) Anyway, that had to be distracting to you.

As for the smoke, it could have been worse.

It was distracting Tim. I tried to 'fix' it but to no avail. Just had to run with it. Long time ago now. Car was much slower but at least I got to drive it regularly.

Somehow I went all year until yesterday without attending any autocross events! It certainly took a few runs to get back into the groove and build up some confidence for this very quick course. I'm sure I left plenty of time on the table but I was happy to see a lot of improvement in my runs through the day.
