I've seen some of these floating around, but none were as polished as I'd like to take it. This version:
- Accepts a 4.5MM thick filter media
- Has a snap-in retainer to keep the media in place
- Has a Porsche script
- Has a reinforced top clip so you can print laying flat without worrying about breaking due to z-layer adhesion
- Has 4 holes on the face for heat set inserts
- Has a "gasket channel" on the face for future ducting, if desired
My thought was I could eventually build some sort of duct up towards the cowl to grab truly fresh air instead of the hot, oily air under the hood. I might try to make some sort of replacement to clean that whole area up...eventually. I'm also thinking of integrating a bracket that can hold readily available, cheap, Doorman vacuum actuators for when the expensive Porsche ones fail.
Renderings: Prints great on my Bambulab X1C. The thin parts of the Porsche script are delicate, but come out looking OK. I printed in Matte PLA, which should be just fine for this application, but maybe I'll print a set in some PA6-CF in the future.
I don't have pics on this computer of them installed on my car, but maybe I'll snap some tomorrow and upload.
Enjoy!
