I can see the S2000 as a strong ST4 machine as we had a couple in our NASA Region and they were strong. You should consider running it with NASA as there is a huge group where you live and continue to run with SCCA. I run both groups and it is not too bad since our SCCA group requires a Dynojet Dyno test to determine a power to weight ratio like NASA, so it means I really don't have too many differences for the two Classes I run.

Pat, great to have another Track/Autocross enthusiast on here as we seem to be getting more and more folks on Carpokes who don't drive pokey, ha! Welcome and congrats on the GT4!

Have loved mechanical things all my life. I think DIY is in my blood.

Longish story, but my wife and I are retired and ended up with some friends (through my wife doing local gigs in a classic rock band). Turns out one couple was REALLY into Porsche cars and had been involved for many years.

Didn't take long and now we have a 2000 Boxster S and a 1975 914 2.0. We love them both and drool on all the cars we see gathered at various Porsche events (we're in Northern California).

The Porsches are great, but I have to say we were only partly drawn by the cars... We were even more drawn by the great people we have met. The club we hang with is a 356 group and they let us tag along with our 914. This has really added to our retirement activities hugely!

Greetings. Just saying hi and introducing myself. I come from a long time, long ownership Porsche family. Aunt had a 63 356C which is in the care of my Brother, awaiting a restoration. My father purchased a 1973 914 2.0 new in 73 and it was passed down to me about 10 years ago. I've gone through it fairly extensively myself. Suspension, brakes, motor, transmission, repaired the firewall and hell hole, etc. I also own a 911Turbo (996) I purchased used about 13 years ago. There are also Caymans, Cayenne's and Boxsters owned as well. I have countless fun memories of so many trips in the cars over the years. Camping, Skiing, long and short mountain road trips and everything in between.

Me personally, I'm retired and have a lot more time to work on my cars. Porsches and others. I consider myself a fairly competent mechanic, having pulled the motor on the Turbo to pin the coolant lines (after a catastrophic failure), mechanically rehabbed the 914 and done extensive work on all the other cars I own, eg transmissions, differentials and suspensions. Never taken a car to a mechanic except for warranty, recall and insurance work. And everyone is a manual. I have a bunch of other hobbies to keep me busy as well. Guitar building and playing, home repairs, metal work, furniture building, shooting, golf etc.

So nice to find this site. Nice focus and positive vibe.

BTW, the username is something I was called by an disgruntled visitor in a former professional capacity.

My Garage:
1968 Jeep CJ-5 rock crawler
1973 Porsche 914 2.0 Saturn Yellow - still original.
2001 Dodge Cummins 2500 pick up - because everyone needs a truck
2003 Porsche 911 Turbo - Nicely modded to get above a 1/2 thousand HP.

@RangerDick

Great read and a fantastic bio/background/experiential synopsis. That is one efficient introduction - nicely done. And yes, I'd say you are never wanting for something to do. Boredom is not a term you would be familiar with, I'm sure.

Good to have you here - Welcome to Carpokes!

By the way, for you and other recent Carpokians, if you want to post pics, please do so - it's easy to do on this site. Pictures are most welcomed and encouraged on Carpokes. Here is a link to Tom's handy pic-posting-guide:

Welcome aboard Matt. That's a great intro and background. I retired from the corporate world a good 10 years ago too, and never looked back. Would love to hear more about the metal work!
