Regarding connectivity, a look from 'The Drive' three days ago at what Acura just did might hint at what's happening to many cars these days. Probably more discouraging decisions like this yet to come from pretty much every vehicle manufacturer. Hopefully, they will sort this over time and head back to figuring out ways to extend support to their customers rather than going the opposite direction.

"Carmakers Can Just Disconnect Your ‘Connected’ Car Whenever They Feel Like It"
"It’s a disappointing reminder that no matter how long a car remains on the road, the tech inside it often carries a much shorter shelf life."

I would go Native Android HU. That's what I did for my 996. $250 HU on Aliexpress with front and rear cameras. You lose the cluster NAV but it's so outdated.Arne2 wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 8:48 amUnfortunate, but not surprising. Worse, I suspect that Porsche might not even offer updates for the 997 maps any longer. And even if the OP wanted to update hardware, the newer Porsche Classic PCM isn't offered for the 997.2, only 997.1.718socal wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 10:37 pm There is a restriction on PCM 3 and 3.1. You can't update the map without a code and can't bypass it with PIWIS. I forgot what encryption they used.

I seriously doubt that. They've already had years to add the .2 model for 987/997 with not even any rumors. I suspect the Classic PCM line has not been as popular as they expected, and plans for additional models or updates have been back-burnered at best, or more probably completely shelved.RDMcG wrote: Sun Jun 01, 2025 10:16 am I suspect that Porsche will continue to update the classic offering.
We need to remember - to us, our Porsches are special and worthy of ongoing support and updates forever. But to Porsche, these are business decisions. If the engineering and design costs more than the potential return, it won't happen.

If there are any Porsche employees who monitor this feed, there are thousands of users who would be interested in this upgrade.
This is my daily driver and I am not interested in changing out the head unit to get CarPlay and new navigation.
HELP PLEASE!!!
