Wishing you great success with the new DME. A true labor of love I'm sure. Do I remember you also saying you eliminated the factory S100 speed and ref sensor chip? If I may ask, did you use one of the modern VR chips or design your own circuit like the early DMEs?

Yes, I am using a modern MAX9926 VR sensor interface chip. However, it requires a separate microcontroller to manage it and also to provide the same features/ logic the DME program expects. Our implementation automatically adapts to changes in VR sensor signal strength. It will read a failing flywheel sensor normally when the factory DME would just stall the engine.

Glad to hear that! I'm just a hack but played around with the max992x evaluation board several years ago when contemplating a stand-alone, and concluded it could run an EKG on a flea.

Joe,

I have one of the original Sport DMEs with OBD+. I sent it in a couple of years ago and you "upgraded" it at the time. Do I need to send in/trade in what I have to get the newest features?
'89 Turbo S-Glacier Metallic Mods: Evergreen Turbo-"Raptor" stage II, Bell custom intercooler, FTech 9 DME & OBD+, Tial 38 Wastegate, GFB EBC, A-Tune, 3" Turbo Back Exhaust, Cross-Drilled rotors, refreshed suspension

Same here, sport DME w/ OBD. Purchased at the same time as a Lindsey MAF before you launched yours. Would love to help out with any future testing.

Currently developing a new HVAC control circuit with servo HCV and a single dual concentric pot switch. Need to free space from all those redundant controls.

Great work!

I know there were far fewer 16V cars made, but as an S2 owner, I’d buy a DME if you made it.
