Great update! Sounds like you're making progress!
My wife and I are planning on going to 944fest as well. It'll be about a 2300 mile round trip, but the car is running well. My only real current "to do" is getting my a/c up to snuff.
Thanks to @Tom's excellent tutorials, I hope to have that tackled in the next few weeks.

Cheers
Brian

Carpokes is a proud sponsor of the fest again this year, and I'll try to make sure we have some good carpokes swag for you guys this year. Suggestions welcome on that front. Travis @Rennbay does an incredible job year after year. It's a bucket list event for me -- one of these days.... Check out last year's event here:

Re that battery post, that's pretty common -- probably from slightly big batteries -- but I ended up putting a silicon cover over the positive battery post just to be safe. It's way too close to grounded body parts for my comfort level.

The outter window scraper seals are shot, so I ordered a new set with clips from 944online. The other window seals can wait for now. Doing a little research these appears to be a serious pain to replace.
I can confirm they are a pain. Buy 2x the number of clips you need. If you’re lucky you’ll end up with spares for the other side.

The cable set I bought already had a cover on the positive or I'm sure I would have had fireworks by now. What is that little deflector for anyways? Just to keep some water away from the battery compartment?

I figured you were a 944Fest regular!

Great, sounds like I should order more clips ... What makes it so difficult?

On the deflector, I always wondered if that kept anyone from messing with the battery cable...maybe disable an alarm???

This guy. Not my car, but same part. Seems it was included on cars with a factory security system.
DME I think you are on the right track with not allowing access to the postive terminal

Ah, right, I don't have a factory alarm so don't have that. These cars came with a battery cover too if you don't already have one.

Does that cover work on the new batteries we have to choose from?
