Welcome aboard! Most of the older forums have been gobbled up by big media companies, so are buried in pop-ups and trolls sadly. And FB is a whole different kettle of fish -- with a painfully high noise to signal ratio. Needless to say I'm biased, but we're working hard to foster the spirit and camaraderie of the old-school, enthusiast-run forums!Sportbiker wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:27 pm I'm a Midwestern US guy who recently retired from asphalt racetracks on two-wheels and picked up something which kinda fills that focus/adrenaline gap. Caught this URL from a 718forum post about the mode selector cover Tom prints out![]()
Hoping the wife, someday, allows me to get back out onto the track with this beaut but in the meantime it will be driven year-round as a daily; winters included whenever I manage to find the wheel size which provides the best tire option range.
Glad to be here, been on forums for ~30 years and happy they are still around so I don't have to deal with FB![]()

Welcome to another track rat ( though I have always been on 4 wheels ) and consider joining PCA and checking out some of the DE ( driver education ) events in your area. Fun way to get to know the car and if you mention to your wife you are just going to hang out with some Porsche folks for a little driver education she may understand you are just working towards better scholarship , haha. Depending on where you are in the Midwest, there are also quite a few places with super autocross sites and the 718 is a riot to run through the cones.
Welcome from another 718 ( Cayman GTS ) owner and glad to have you here!

Hi guy's,
Found this forum in the recent PCA Panorama magazine. Looking forward to participating with the group.
I am retired, and have had sports cars all my driving life. Current "toy" is a 2008 - 911 C4S Cabriolet which I purchased earlier this summer. This is my 2nd Porsche, the 1st one was a 1986 944S. I've also had a Fiat 124 Spider, 5 Corvettes, a Ferrari 328 GTS, and a Ferrari 360 Modena. Attached are a few photos of my 911. One is from a recent PCA Show & Shine event where I took 1st place. Glad to be here, and looking forward to gaining knowledge and getting support from the group.

blue, you were awfully kind for not blatantly pointing out my forum sin: no pic on first post. Here she is the day we picked her up.blueline wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 7:33 pm PS - Would be great to see pics of the 718 in Carmine Red! Easy and painless to post photos on Carpokes. PCA and a host of other stuff is on the wishlist. Until I get the OK to be back on track (my home was Road America) I'll be doing HPDEs when the schedule permits. I do have the luxury of a spouse that has a real love for fast just like me. We regularly argue over who gets to drive Flo [Jo]. My spouse was faster than me at Atlanta's Porsche slalom track which is embarrassing and something I want to rectify.WillyDaP wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:44 am Welcome to another track rat ( though I have always been on 4 wheels ) and consider joining PCA and checking out some of the DE ( driver education ) events in your area. So nice! I know that was a happy day. I have an affinity for Carmine Red Porsches and I absolutely love the 718s, so it's a great combo that you have! Thanks for posting the pic.Sportbiker wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 7:13 pmblue, you were awfully kind for not blatantly pointing out my forum sin: no pic on first post. Hello All:
My name is Les Shumake
I recently bought a 2004 911, my first Porsche after owning primarily BMWs all my life, (with a corvette or two thrown in along the way). After a friend of mine told me 20 years ago to “buy a 911, any 911”, I finally did so. I am not a track enthusiast, nor do I have any mechanical ability as many members do. (I wish I did). I just like fun-to drive convertibles with manual transmissions.
I wanted to ask other members to compare the two pedal Carreras or other Porsches with the three pedal model I have as far as the fun-to-drive experience. I am 72 and I commute every day in heavy traffic, so that takes away from some of the experience. Thanks, and happy to hear from anyone on this topic.
