Hi Folks - just posting here for everyone's information. The 25-pin connector for the KLR is no longer available to purchase new. Therefore, Kroon has now listed on the 944 Turbo page that you MUST first send your harness to Kroon, for them to repurpose that connector when building a new harness.
https://www.kroonwireharnesses.com/pors ... 5160702102
**The last paragraph on the page:
"For this wiring harness, you will need to send us your old one, as the housing of the angled 25-pin connector is no longer available new. We will only reuse the housing. Please contact us and we will provide instructions on how to send your old harness to us. Keep this in mind when ordering this harness!"
I'm not faulting Kroon, nor am I upset as it's the winter time and I don't mind having my car on the quickjacks for awhile. However, I want everyone to know this because it could affect the following:
1) Cost
Kroon recommends to NOT use USPS to ship over your harness, because you lose tracking once it lands in the EU. I used the cheapest UPS option (UPS Worldwide Expedited). From Raleigh, NC to the Netherlands the package (13x9x7; 7 lbs) cost $285. I do want to point out that it looks like Kroon slightly lowered the cost of the harness, possibly to compensate.
2) Time
From Raleigh, NC, the estimated travel time (customs, etc) to Kroon (Netherlands) is 7 calendar days. Then, they have to assemble and ship back. I'm estimating the entire process will take about 4 weeks. This is something to consider if you were originally planning on just ordering a new harness and continuing to drive your 951 while waiting for it to arrive.
That's all I got for now. I'll update once I receive the harness to report on the actual time it took for the whole process.
I'm also documenting the removal and install of the new harness (once I receive it) on my youtube channel.

Thanks for the heads-up!
Trust you've seen my Kroon installation thread here. The KLR tube trick alone will likely save you a ton of frustration!
Did you look at DHL for shipping? In my experience they are half the price and half the transit time to Europe and Asia. If your name isn't a famously huge South American river, UPS seems to price like they don't want your business these days -- especially at their retail UPS Stores.
It's also curious why you'd need to send the entire harness, rather than just pulling the wires out and sending that one little connector housing? That would dramatically reduce the cost to ship....
Many moons again, before Kroon was around, I started accumulating parts to replicate the harness. The DME and KLR connectors were tricking because the latches are keyed, but if memory serves I found the right one and probably have a handful stuffed in the back of a cabinet somewhere.

Hey Tom! Oh yes - I've read through your Kroon harness install thread. I've installed one on a friends car about a year ago. We STRUGGLED to get the KLR hose through the firewall grommet. He was insistent on one remedy.....reem it out with a drill.... I advised against it, but hey - it's his harness. So, a few passes with a drill and that opened up that hole enough to still provide a seal but we were able to pull it through with the aid of some silicone spray.Tom wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:37 am Thanks for the heads-up!

Unfortunately, I didn't think to look at DHL. In fact, I'd have to look up where I could ship via DHL, here in Raleigh. You are correct about UPS as well. The pricing for even small shipments is getting insanely out of hand.
As for shipping the entire harness, I'm not sure why they wouldn't recommend just shipping the KLR connector. However, if it is something they can use to make sure everything on the new harness is just like on the old one...I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I was resigned to drilling out the rubber too, but decided to sleep on it a few nights while doing other things. The screw idea came to me as divine inspiration while sleeping one night.NCGermerican wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 10:19 amHey Tom! Oh yes - I've read through your Kroon harness install thread. That is the only drawback with DHL -- finding a place to ship. The place near me is just a tiny little hole in the wall. Apparently, they only ship internationally, at least from my little outlet.
The harness they sent me was exactly right in every way, but I hear you about sending the whole thing -- virtually no chance of getting it wrong that way. You'll love it -- one of the best things I ever did for my car.

I'll add my 2 cents to this discussion. I purchased my Kroon harness for my 1989 944 Turbo in December 2024. At that time they didn't need anything from me as parts were still available.
Kroon shipped via UPS Express and only charged me 79.29 Euro. Upon receipt in the USA, UPS sent me an invoice for $91.00 for Government Import charges, plus $14.00 Brokerage Charges for UPS to pay the fees. Fortunately, at the time the exchange rate was 1.0541 vs around 1.16+ today, which would have added another $200. Still, with the import fees it was a bit over $2,000. The harness is a work of art though... simply gorgeous.
I'm planning to tackle the installation project this year and Tom's and NCG's inputs will be very valuable. Thanks for taking the time to document the process.

You can also work with Technica Racewire in California to make one. With these tariff charges now also, hope you don't get dinged on the shipment back in. I did recently with a 944 part purchase from Netherlands.

Looks like all the harnesses are "vaporware." The images look nice though, but wouldn't work if you want a factory look since the construction is sleeved vs wrapped. Not sure how the weight gets cut nearly in half compared to stock.AudiSport wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 5:20 pm You can also work with Technica Racewire in California to make one. I would expect them made to order as the volume of orders is probably non-existent.Latitude48 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 5:55 pmLooks like all the harnesses are "vaporware." For what it's worth, I also received a bill after the fact from UPS. I wrote to Kroon to ask if it was legit, and if they needed me to pay it, and they didn't seem to have much info about it. UPS was pretty aggressive about collecting, without being specific about what it was actually for -- and said they'd send it to collections, etc., but I simply did not pay on principle. I had no contractual obligation to pay any such fee, and they have no taxing authority, so I just said no. Eventually they went away. I wasn't trying to get away with anything but I felt they were trying to bully me into collecting money, without any right to do so...Latitude48 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 2:08 pm I'll add my 2 cents to this discussion.
