I didn't know that. Thanks for the information!

I had my car more than 20 years before I realized that. It was such a common thing to do -- even dealers did it to new cars -- you see as many that way as not it seems....

We had the dealer install one when the car was purchased new, along with the slotted rear valence and chin spoiler. Unlike the valence and spoiler, the panel is not a Porsche part.

The car is safely in my possession and stashed in the barn. Altough still on the trailer. It was a serious pain to get loaded.
First thing he tells me when I got there was, I can't find the title. Well then, I guess the price just dropped. I handed him $500 instead of the agreed upon $600 and he did not complain.
Those tires that "definitely hold air" ... about that. Neither front would take air and was clearly coming off the bead. Pulled it a few feet to hopefully get a better angle at them. Nope ...

Of course the winch doesn't care if you have tires so that's no issue. Trying to save the wheels was my concern. Both the seller and myself had a variety of boards available to let it roll over while winching it on. It did work, eventually. That front is LOW with flat tires!
Speaking of winching. I know this is a bad idea and I'd never do it on a running car, but when the options are slim.
That's the seller trying to "fix" the tire

Once the front was just on the ramps, I got under it and connected to the driver control arm.

Made it home! Now I have to figure out how to get it off without destroying a wheel. That's a later problem
I also have the hood. For some reason it wasn't bolted on. Kind of like all my winch wiring in that strapped box, for now.

Good story and outcome. Tires without air are no fun but at least the brake discs were not locked tight in the calipers. Can you use a couple wheels from your car to get it off the trailer?

It finally worked out! I think that's probably the play. I'm in no hurry to yet it off the trailer at the moment though. Might look for some cheap tires to throw on just so it rolls at some point. Brakes were definitely stuck to begin with. Broke free after a little skid, thank the Porsche Gods 😊

Got a story from the mother of the buyer about how the seller's late grandfather loved that car and she hopes to see it run again. He bought it new. I didn't have the heart to tell her my plan.
I also got a little backstory on why it was parked. It started burning a lot of oil and getting hot. Claims it was never actually overheated though. Maybe so, maybe not. Also said the AOS was the cause of the oil in the intake. That part I believe and was impressed she knew that much. 93k on the ODO

Awesome! Great work. Now that we've successfully goaded you into getting the car, surely you could get the motor running one last time... And I bet that paint would clean up pretty nicely... And I have a lot of interior parts looking for a good home. Just say'n.... :shifty:

You are not helping Tom! 😂
I have already accepted that it will run at some point. The paint though... it's beyond bad and peeling to the metal. I mean, I've stripped/blasted and painted worse .. No.
No. I will not restore this.
No. I will not restore this.

I just need to start pulling parts. Buddy also brought up, you know, that would be a great LeMons car. He's not wrong 🤔

I could be interested in some interior trim pieces if in good condition. I will send a PM.
Glad you got it home. Nice trailer.
