Hello,
Many years ago I purchased the license plate holder from this site for my 992.1. I would now like to replace the adhesive parts.

Forgive me if I missed a previous post on this - could someone point me in the right direction or let me know how best to remove and replace either the adhesives (with the correct adhesive strips) or the entire unit all together?

Very Best.

Hi, this is the tape used on those mounts:

https://www.amazon.com/3M-Super-Strengt ... r=8-1&th=1

If you peel off the old tape and clean the surface with rubbing alcohol, you can replace the tape yourself without much drama. Did the old ones get loose? On clean dry paint, they really should last forever. Ceramic coatings and warped plates tend to be the most common culprits when they do come loose though...

Many thanks!! My plate did warp a little and looks off, the mounts themselves actually are in good shape; and so I just want to correct it.

That said...any recommendation on how to remove them?...warm them up or..??

Many thanks!!

The tape is designed to hold permanently, so they are not easy to get off. If yours are still stuck on the car, I'm not sure why you'd want to remove them though? Regardless, the key is patience. Put rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to wet the tape, then work it off slowly a little bit at a time with a credit card or similar -- or dental floss. The harder you pull, the more they seem to stick, so you want to work them off slowly, keeping everything wet with alcohol. You can screw a longer M6 bolt into the mounts to give you a little leverage as you pull -- but slow and easy wins the race. Don't pull so hard that you start to flex the bumper...
