Went to a Porsche driving experience recently and had a chance to drive a Taycan and a 911 turbo S. The Taycan felt like being in a crazy silent roller-coaster & the turbo S felt the same but with a great engine roar. I prefer sound over silence but the Taycan was quite impressive I have to admit.Ajjra wrote: Sun Aug 15, 2021 4:44 am Anyone else surprised by Taycan driving experience?
Candidly, I thought I would hate. I test drove a 4S as a due diligence exercise before buying a new car. Within a week I owned one.
It was massively reassuring to discover that driving in the future won’t be terrible. I’ve driven some hybrids and found they had nothing to offer me. Sure there’s the 918, but that’s a car most of us will never drive, much less own. I’ve driven Tesla and immediately concluded it wasn’t for me.
When I got to the dealership, I was expecting the lithium barge; the battery sled. But man, it felt like a Porsche. A good one.
If I’m on Carpokes, you know cars are in my DNA. I drive, I track, I’m a PCA Instructor, I race competitively, I wrench (albeit just basic maintenance and simple modifications). I’m not someone who was particularly excited for the automotive future. The Taycan changed that.
I still have an internal combustion engine Porsche in the garage as well. Fortunately there is room in my automotive life for both for now.
Anyone else surprised by Taycan driving experience?
I have a C4S and Taycan 4s. The Taycan drives amazingly. Smoooothe…lightning quick, and oh so quiet. It’s really that good.
Also very low and stable at high speeds. It is a Porsche and I do enjoy driving it.

Got my Taycan 4S in May. It is an amazing car in every respect. While I still love driving my 911, the Taycan is wicked fast, very comfortable and quiet, and you can put 3 passengers in it. I have a deposit for the electric Macan for my wife - ETA Q12023
I have a Taycan Cross Turismo and it drives like a slot car. The Porsche steering and suspension in combination with the low center of gravity because of the battery pack enables the Taycan to just stick to the road. Lots of torque and power even on the base model version.
I just recently sold my 911 Carerra S for a Taycan turbo and zero regrets surprisingly! I smiled every single time I grabbed my keys for the 4 years I had my 911 too. I loved that car. But kids are getting older and I needed something that was 4 door. After the first time driving a Taycan turbo, I realized EV's are the future. They just make way too much sense. This Taycan is faster than my 911 even though it is 4 door and way heavier and gets 70 mpge (electric equivalent). I charge it in my garage.. so no more stopping at gas stations and it drives like Porsche. All the manufacturers are switching to fully electric by 2030/35 so the writing is on the wall for CI's. I'm fully adopting them now.

I’ve driven a couple of them and probably the best all-around car I’ve ever driven. Smooth, quiet, wicked fast, and handles unbelievably! I had the opportunity to drive a Taycan Turbo, 991S, and Macan GTS at Hallett for a Porsche invitational. The Macan was awesome for an SUV - better than most cars. 911 was so fun with the PDK and great sounds. The Taycan surprised me the most. We were only going at 5/10ths and it was freaking awesome! Another generation or two of battery technology (capacity, recharging times, and lighter weight) and charging infrastructure and we’ll be on yet another level of attainable performance.
