Heck Tom,

I'd sure place a Carpokes Medallion on my 992 Turbo. I'll be at Werks Reunion at Amelia with it. I have no local passion.

I have too many grille badges to mount them on my car. Plus, I've heard lots of stories about Mercedes-Benz owners having their Star hood emblem ripped off (it might be where they live, perhaps). So I purchased this clear plastic stand at a trophy shop for less than $10.00.

Just an alternative thought,
Steve

Resurrecting an old thread to share my PCA badge installation on the 992. I looked closely at the badge holder on the Sports Classic and opted not to follow that design. I didn't like the way it blocked the air vents, and it was designed for the unusual flat badge used on that car. I ended up opting for kind of a minimalist approach, creating a rubber-backing for the badge and hardware to avoid any scratching on the 992's plastic grille. Files for the 3D-printable anti-scratch pieces can be downloaded here:

I used the studs and bracket that the PCA ships with the badge, but for the 992, the studs will much longer than needed, so I cut them both down to 50mm using my trusty Dremel. To clean up the cut end and make it look like a real stud, I used my tried and true hillybilly stud making technique. Don't try this at home....

I then put some adhesive lines shrink tubing on the studs so that they would not file away at the soft plastic louvers. You need to leave maybe 8mm of thread exposed on the end for the nut, but make sure the heat shrink is long enough to prevent the bare stud from rubbing on the plastic louvers.

Be sure to use Nylock nuts (M5 .8 pitch) or loctite on the threads, as the rubber mounts and vibration can help the nuts loosen. The bottom of the area below the rear 'hood' us open to the motor (intercoolers), and represents a black hole if something falls in there. So you don't want a nut working loose. I covered the are with towels just in case I dropped something during the installation. Last time I took my car in for servicing, the tech dropped a plastic rivet down there, and it took him 3 hours to get out -- he had to use a borescope to find it, and then remove a tail light to get at it. You've been warned. :)

Nice, Tom. I've yet to come up with a spot to mount a badge on my 718 Cayman. The grills in the front bumper just don't seem appropriate.

I agree. Unlike the 992, the 718 doesn’t have a good location for badges. I settled for the PCA and PCA Cayman register ‘clings,’ one on each rear side window.

I had stickers from Werks Monterey '22 in the side windows for a while, but removed them a few months back. I have the Cayman Register and Cascade Region 'clings' in the lower corners of the rear window.

Tom, you are a true Craftsman. The fit and finish of your mount is amazing.
I am feeling a little self conscious about my recycled rubber floor mat creation….

Is there someone known that would supply and sell the 3D printed backings?
