Like it or not, I suspect that the 992.2 Carrera will have a hybrid powertrain combining the traditional flat 6 with an electric motor. My hope is that they keep the weight in check and that its mor3 than offset by the additional horsepower and torque. If so, it might well be a more refined grand tourer than the car it replaces.

The 4.0 is such a challenge to fit, and have meet EU emissions regulations it is unlikely.
This however is the rumor that won’t die:

I can see the 992.2 going hybrid, Porsche has always said the chassis was designed for it to eventual include a hybrid unit.
Maybe some along the lines of the Mclaren Artura.
We at least know the 718 will be electric before the 911. I would think we would see the electric 718 something this fall at the latest.

I'm sure the hybrid 911 will be a fantastic car. I'm just sad to see this powertrain in a 911. I just hope it will be an OPTION rather than being forced. We shall see.
In the meantime - just glad to have gotten a GT3 on order coming in July.
I just sold my Carrera S cab. I may be open to a hybrid Turbo S cab sometime down the road. The car is already somewhat heavy for a 911 so the hybrid may work well to further improve the 0-60 for some fun launches!

Porsche brass continues to stress that ICE 911's are not going away. I'd say that will hold true unless (or until) mandates force them them to do otherwise. That's been further bolstered by the apparent roll back of all electric mandates in the EU if synfuels can become a viable alternative.Porsche4Live wrote: Sun Apr 09, 2023 5:31 pm I'm sure the hybrid 911 will be a fantastic car. From what I'm seeing online, it seems like the Turbo will go to hybrid first. So I don't think it's at all certain the hybrid will trickle all the way down to the Carrera by 2024.Einmalig wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 2:39 pm Like it or not, I suspect that the 992.2 Carrera will have a hybrid powertrain combining the traditional flat 6 with an electric motor. Personally, and with no information to back me up, I think that the Carrera and Carrera S will get some interior tweaks and minor exterior tweaks but will remain virtually the same power and transmission wise. The hybrid will be introduced on the Turbo series and won't trickle down to the normal 911's for a while - I would guess until the next series is introduced. As far as going to the non aspirated engine - not going to happen. The 992.2 is not going to offer lesser numbers that the 992.1 and taking out the turbos would make the new generation slower than the outgoing generation. Porsche doesn't work that way.
