I did bleed my brake system on my CGTS this past weekend. @slilley your notes above are good. I did the one man brake bleed method without a power bleeder, I guess this is my preferred method. I do have a way to pressure bleed the system but chose not to use it.

I used two bottles of Motoul RBF 660, did the same where I cleaned out the reservoir as best as I could before I started. I bleed the inside then the outside nipples. I found the process quite straight forward. If you ever bled anything before you got it.

Had the coolant issue also. Did a road trip to Thunderhill in California from Vancouver Canada.
First morning got the same message for about 10 seconds then "Be carefull".
The car took 1 liter of coolant. I was lucky there was a Rielly's auto supply a block from the hotel.
I am going to remove the panels under the car and let it run in the garage for a few hours to look for a leak

Additional air filters info and words to the wise plus a HUGE thanks for bringing up the subject in this thread. Thank you @Southbama along with all others who chimed in.

It was time for the GT4's annual factory recommended service (year-3), plus swapping wheels to winter set and other additional off-season checks and service work. (The regular annual services are in addition to the extra maint & preventative work done due to a lot of track driving.)

For the record, the car (a 2021 GT4) has 14,090 non-dusty mostly Tennessee driven miles. However, approximately 3,200 of those are hard on-track miles.

Thanks to the thread, I suggested that the air filters probably needed changing or at least an inspection. Oddly, this procedure is not mentioned in the maintenance section of the GT4's supplemental owner's manual "Driving on the Race Circuit". In fact, there is no mention at all of air filters in that supplemental manual.

My unparalleled Porsche dealership tech agreed, specifically due to the large volume of air being sucked into the car at WOT (which is where a track car's throttle lives), all directed through low-to-the-ground and large side scoops. However, he also mentioned that, by the book, the car was not due for filter change until the year-4 or 40,000 mile service. We both figured that they might be dirty but probably not really bad.

How wrong we were! Pics below tell it all.

By the way, this alone is a good reason in my opinion for NOT using aftermarket filters such as BMC that are even more porous. If driving in more extreme conditions, do you really want that additional grit and grime sucked into your engine? Not me.

No mention of air filter service or replacement in the 'additional maintenance required' section of the on-track owner's manual.

I will never understand why Porsche went from 20,000 mile replacement for the 981 to 40,000 miles for the 718. Mine at 19,000 looked equally as filthy as yours Blueline, and mine has never seen a track or a road that wasnt paved.

I agree to your recommendation they should be serviced once a year!

Yes. Get the message about 2 times a week. Stays on for maybe 3 minutes then goes away and temperature never goes past 194. Check the reservoir and have only had to put fluid in (less than 1/2 cup) twice. Don’t believe I have a leak. Don’t know what’s going on.

Hey Rdshrews1,

Couple things here. First, welcome aboard! Second, the coolant temp gauge is factory programmed to read 194 in all normal conditions however it can be remapped to read the actual temp values if you wish. See the X431 thread for more details. Finally have you topped the coolant up recently? I have topped mine up with distilled water until the little blue stick floats proudly.

Here's the X431 programming thread on Carpokes that J-Dub was referring to. There's a lot of good info that will give you an idea of what can be done and how (or where to turn to) should you decide to proceed. There also are more threads on the site dealing with reprogramming but I think this one has the most info, especially for 718's.
