This is just mho here...speaking from previously tuning cars and having installed mods on them, if you plan on selling the car soon, just leave it stock. Especially if you're not tracking the car, there's really not reason to mod the car, unless you like the stop light to stop light racing. And if you do, you should just go to the track and have some real fun.
When I look to purchase a car...Porsche, BMW, Chevy, Toyota etc.. (yes even the lower grade cars) if it is has mods, I simply move on because I don't know for sure who did it, if it was done correctly and why is this person trying to sell the car, which he/she had to pay to have the mod installed? Is it not running correctly? Is the cel bulb removed, was it done legally? Too many concerns with purchasing a car with mods.

Now if you plan on tracking the car every month, yes I'd mod the car out and mention it in you ad when selling, what you did and why you did it.
As for warranty, best to just wait it out, again unless you purchased the car for the track, then see what Porsche can do for you first...jmho.

Great post on Carpokes from Slowpoke, because it is so true to what really happens. Folks often tell folks they will have no issues, yet those of us who worked for Dealerships for years would refute that because we saw the realities. Once the Dealer finds out the car has been tuned the issue is two fold. First can the Dealer change it back or has it been earmarked in the car's systems, but more importantly are there any drivability issues. I remember too many cars to count that we sent to the auction as they could not be set up to run properly. These issues are usually common with a Tuner who sells that his system is the best and you later find out no one else has a clue what he did --even more fun when he is no longer in business.

So, in the real World a tune will affect many Dealers and buyers views , so figure on a reduction in resale. The warranty issue is often argued by using the Moss/ Magnuson Act, but tunes can very easily be argued that they exceeded the Manufacturers testing, were outside of EPA guidelines , or other criteria , so as Slowpoke noted , these things are best done after the warranty is out.

Keep in mind one last item, and that is if the Dealer says things are okay with them, if the problem is severe the Manufacturer will likely send in a Rep and they may simply say regardless of what was said, the change is not permitted and then your issues become more fun --- hiring an attorney may be needed and you will likely be going after the Dealer instead of the Manufacturer.

And that's yet another reason that I've let the Porsche dealer make the track and performance upgrades to the GT4.

And I'd agree to the checksum and other methods that could be utilized to seek out ECU flashes and other recoverable changes or alterations (there are countless bits of info), but Porsche is going to want to go after someone pretty badly to go to those lengths. They are not routine.

All in all, if one wants to be truly secure in the knowledge that their warranty hasn't been weakened, don't make changes or absent that, include the dealer in the game.
I have done some upgrades to my T.
After 8598 miles, My shift housing was feeling fatigued.
I had Porsche Install a Numeric Short Shifter.
It cost 300 dollars to install, does not void my warranty, and makes shifting my 911 T like shifting a GT3 or equivalent
I also put on a Sportshifters Shift Knob, custom-made, and it makes the already short shift 1.5 inches shorter. Each shift is crisp, short, and precise with no wiggle, or play when the shifter is in gear. The shift housing went from plastic and washers to A shift housing made out of Billet Aluminum, with ceramic bearings.
So quite the upgrade and the only upgrade I will do for the foreseeable future (5 years)
Numeric makes some great products. I have their aluminum pedal set in the GT4 and absolutely love them - so much higher quality than what comes with the car.

I will have to look in to the pedal set if you recomend it!
