So many good and wonderful tips!

Already after just 2 days here I got heeps of great stuff to look into. I will start making reservations and plans for parts of the trip right away. I guess that much gets fully booked early in the year when it comes to Christmas and new years eve!? Its like that here in Sweden so should be the same at these wonderful spots!

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but you may not be able to enter Yosemite in January due to snow.

When I was maybe 7 years old, my father had some kind of business trip in Yosemite in the middle of winter, and brought the whole family. As a California kid, it was the first time in my life I ever saw snow! I "think" the Ahwahnee Lodge stay open all year, but some of the roads and trails/hikes are indeed closed or impassable during heavy snow.
