If that hose is in fact the strainer to pump hose, that's a low-pressure line that you probably want to replace with low-pressure hose for a couple reasons. First, the fittings for a plastic-lined high-pressure are specific and not what we find for that section. Second is that there will undoubtedly be a time when you need to pinch that hose to service the pump or filter above. The plastic core in the high-pressure hose will fracture, and the failure you showed in your picture might easily be the result of pinching it with a Vise-Grip pliers. We often decide that high-pressure hose will be better or more durable than the original lower-pressure hose. But in this case, plus the connections between the FPR and the hard return line in the engine bay will be much better with the low-pressure hose than the lined high-pressure hose.

My too sense, based on experience with my plumbing-similar 928, among others. No 924/944/968 experience in there. So add salt to taste. ;)

Yea, I ended up replacing it with some fuel rated loose hose I picked up from Autozone. I probably should have checked if it was high or low pressure, but I just needed a quick fix.
